Hi I'm Clint

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in California, but now live in Missouri. Been serving in the military since 1991.

About Me

I was born and raised in California. After graduating high school, I enlisted in the Navy and served honorably for four years. I then tested the civilian waters for a while. It was in Arkansas that I met my wife. I moved to Arkansas because the cost of living in California was just too high. Anyway, I re-enlisted in the Navy and was a little scared that I might not see my girlfriend (who was a return missionary from the Little Rock mission). She surrprised me by coming up to Chicago where I was going to school and I proposed to her there. We got married in the Washington, DC temple June 16, 1999. We have three kids (one boy and two girls). I am looking to retire from the military in 2015. I also hope that I can get on with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Why I am a Mormon

It's no real secret. I have a better feeling about life. If I weren't baptized into the church, where would I be? But here is my story. My friend, Ken and I, were at work one Late December day in 1997. We were talking about a variety of things from the economy, politics and other world issues, when the topic of religion came up. I tld him about why I didn't attend church. It wasn't that I didn't believe in God, it was that I didn't know about him, since my father's passing in 1983. And I am not going to lie here. I was mad at Him for taking my father away from me. But I was 9 years old when he died. It took me several years to figure out that it wasn't idea and I then realized that God wasn't such a bad person after all. But I still didn't know how to approach God. Anyway, he gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon that nite. I read it, and I don't think I was half way through Mosiah when I knew the truth. I called the missionaries (Sister Michaud and Sister Carreras). They taught me that it ok to love God for everything that he provides for us. I was baptized on March 14, 1998 at 7:30pm (kind of eerie that I still remember that). It has taught me that life is a great ride, as long as God is your co-pilot.

How I live my faith

I play basketball with the missionaries on Thursdays, in hopes to have non-memebers come and hopefully be baptized into the church. I do my home teaching quite religiously. But sometimes my work schedule, as crazy and hectic as it is, I don't always get the chance to see them face to face. I also teach the 16-17 year olds in church.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Clint
As stated above, the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. For those who want to know more about the Book of Mormon, read it. I have read it cover to cover several times and each time I do, I learn something new. I am in the process of reading the entire quad the Book Of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, The Pearl of Great Price and the Bible. I have done this twice before and I have to tell you, it is an undertaking to say the least, but it is well worth the time. One can learn so much from reading these holy scriptures.
