Hi I'm Nate L.

I Was born and raised in Western Canada but feel most of my growing up happened as a missionary in Ohio, and I'm a Mormon!!!

About Me

I was born and raised the oldest of 5 children. I have two wonderful parents that were able to put up with me through all my growing up. Some of my favorite things consist of longboarding (especially by any body of water), Snowboarding (ok really anything that has to do with boarding to keep this shorter), and guitar. I had the opportunity to live and serve the people of Ohio while serving as a missionary in the "Great Ohio, Columbus Mission". I truly feel that while I was born and raised in Western Canada, that most of my growing up was while I was serving the Lord in Ohio. After all that being said I want to make sure that everyone knows that I love my family and have them to thank for the best things that I have in my life. I am so grateful to be able to be part of them and am grateful that they are part of me. I look forward to the future where I can be able to share the experiences we had in our home growing up as a husband, and a father.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that my Heavenly Father is literally my Father. He is all of our Father. As I have come to know that I have learned that He has provided a way to return to Him. He loves us so much that He prepared a plan for Jesus Christ to come earth to live and die as a sacrifice for us as God's children to return to Him. As I have searched the scriptures to grow closer to to Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ, I have felt promptings from the Holy Ghost. Those promptings taught me that Heavenly Father through His infinite love has once again restored through a the prophet Joseph Smith, Jesus Christ's church on the earth. I am a Mormon because I have read, and prayed about the Book of Mormon, and felt of the truth found within it. I know that only the Holy Ghost can give such promptings and that he confirmed the truth to me. I know that through Jesus Christ's church is the way that we may return back to our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I am grateful for the opportunities that I have been given to serve in several congregations as a teacher, and a councillor in one of my Sunday School Presidencies. I have learned and continue to learn that every person found in any class has something to contribute, and something to take from every lesson. As a teacher, I learned that I am not all-knowing but in fact am there to be taught by those individuals who aren't specifically "teaching". I am not only a Mormon on Sunday though. I know that how I live my faith is best shown outside of a church building. I live my faith by continuing to learn and apply what I learn. I don't stand on soap boxes on busy street corners and preach to the masses. I live faithfully the principles that I learn through my studies, and hope that people notice a difference. I can always notice when others are faithfully following their Saviour and His teachings, and am reminded that I can do the same!

What is faith?

Nate L.
The best way that I know to describe faith is a belief that is strong enough that it will drive us to act. For example when someone is hungry it is possible to look it over, until you get hungry enough that you need to prepare food. I am aware that this isn't a perfect analogy, but it is a way for me to understand what faith is, and I was hungry at the time that I thought of it. It is possible to believe in the existence of our Heavenly Father and yet do nothing to get closer to Him. Faith comes when we are actively engaged in becoming more like our Heavenly Father.
