Hi I'm Al

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am: Married Father on 9 children (5 boys and 4 girls) - 27 grandchildren a retired structural firefighter Member of the Church since 1968. Currently - Venturer leader.

Why I am a Mormon

In 1962 I travelled from Winnipeg Manitoba to LA California on Grey Hound. It was a terrible trip (3 days and 3 nights, without stopping) in a smoke filled bus. The bus went through SLC and it was at this point in time that I heard the name "Mormon" for the first time. On my return trip - I hitch-hiked - not wanting to get back into a smokey bus. I met a number of very nice and interesting people. The next time I heard the name Mormon, I was interested in what made them tick. It was 6 years later that I finally sat down with the missionaries to take the discussions. i was baptised in Vernon BC with my wife and two children present. Through the years my testimony has been strengthened toward the Saviour and His church. I have an assurance of Christ's love for me and my family. I know that he has called Prophets in these last days. I have seen my family be protected from the desolating sickness that has scourged the earth.

How I live my faith

I did not serve a mission as a young man - I was not a member until I wasmarried with two children. I have however served in many possitions over the years. Following my retirement in 2003, my wife Ann and I served a GSU mission in Melbourne Australia for 18 months. This Summer - 2011 - I will be going with our Venturers to the Broken Islands Federal park on Vancouver Island, after a weeks camping in the Mountains in central BC.
