Hi I'm Jeanne

I am a mom and wife, a student and a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I LOVE to read, especially fantasy. I love being with my family and we enjoy doing fun things together. Music is big in our home. I love playing the piano and I'm encouraging my children to love music too. My oldest plays the cello and my youngest two are learning the piano. We also love just listening to music and singing fun songs, especially those from a recent Disney hit movie! I went to college before I had kids and received an AA degree. When my youngest started school, I started back up too. I am at USC studying Elementary Education and in a couple years I will be teaching school! I grew up in Florida so I love the beach and all beach related activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is Christ's church. I have prayed and asked God if this was the true church, if the Book of Mormon is true, if our Prophets are truly prophets of God and I received an answer from the Holy Ghost that yes this is the truth. I can't imagine my life without the gospel. With a world slowly losing its values, I feel so blessed to belong to a church that will never lower its standards and morals. I know that God has a plan for me and I know that God loves me. 14 years ago my father was sick and dying of cancer. I prayed many times asking God to heal him, but that wasn't His plan. The night before he died, I told my mother to call me and let me know when it happened. I just knew it would be that night. Early the next morning I received the phone call from her and although I was extremely sad, I was felt an overwhelming sense of peace. I KNEW that this was God's plan. I will never forget that feeling. At that time in my life, I clung to the following scripture: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6. Even now, 14 years later, I can't deny that God, the Savior, and the Holy Ghost are real because of that experience. Because I am a Mormon, I know that families can be together forever through the sealing powers of the priesthood. I know that I can see my dad again one day and that my children will be able to know him. With out the gospel, death would be unbearable for me. I truly have a testimony of our Savior. I know He suffered for our sins and died on the cross. I know He overcame that death and was resurrected 3 days later. I am so grateful to Him because I could never get through this life and get back to God without Him. He is the foundation of my faith and of the LDS church.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday. Being a Mormon is not a once a week thing. It truly is a life style. Over the course of my life I have had many different callings (responsibilities) in the church. The majority of my service has been in music. When I was 15 or 16 I started playing the piano for our ward (local) choir and I also played for our stake (city wide) choir. Since then I have played for many choirs, played in sacrament meeting on the piano and organ, played in our primary (the children's group), and played for relief society (our women organization.) Sometimes more than one at a time. In non-music capacities, I have been able to serve in our Youth Program at different times and I have been able to serve with the children. I had great youth leaders when I was teen and I am trying to be a good leader to my young women. Since I turned 18, I have been a visiting teacher. That means once a month I go out with another sister and we visit 2 or 3 other sisters from the church. We talk to them, share a message, and see how we can help. And then I am also visited once a month from two sisters to check on me and share a message with me. I try and be an example to the people around me and let me emphasize the word "TRY" since I am far from perfect. I try and make good choices, I am teaching my children about Christ and His gospel and I am praying for guidance and peace.
