Hi I'm Jackie

I'm a Mormon.Joined the Church in 1966 in England. At present I am Relief Society Secretary in my Ward.

About Me

I'm a 69 year old mum, grandmother and great grandmother. I enjoy walking, gardening, knitting, crochet, cross stitch and reading especially. I like to always have some 'project' on the go. At the moment I am stitching a 'Winnie the Pooh' picture for my daughter-in-law.Finished the picture and gave it to my daughter-in-law for Christmas! I enjoy politics, I used to be a city councillor and also a school governor. I like to be involved with my local community. I enjoy growing vegetables in the garden. My husband has made some raised beds for me because I have arthritis which makes it difficult to do a lot of bending.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church in 1966 after two very wet missionaries knocked on my door one evening in February. I never had any doubt that what they taught me was true and loved the Book of Mormon from the very first page. I have had my ups and downs over the years but have never lost my testimony of the truth of the Gospel. Now I have the wonderful blessing of being able to serve at the Temple with my dear husband and I have done lots of family history research and sealed members of my family together forever. What a comfort it is to know that I can be with my beloved parents again one day. I know that I am a child of God and that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me, despite my shortcomings, and if I do my best to live my life the right way, keeping the covenants that I made at baptism then I will be able to return to live with them one day. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet and that Thomas S. Monson is our living Prophet today. If we pay heed to President Monson then we can be safe in this world full of danger and temptation.'Keep the commandements, in this there is safety, in this there is peace.' Never was a truer word spoken.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life every day with concern for others. When I say my prayers in the morning I ask for help in understanding the needs of others and inspiration to know how I can maybe help someone in need.I love to attend Church every Sunday. I am the secretary in our womens organisation. Previously I have served with the children in our junior Sunday school and also in the nursery. I loved that. I read the Scriptures every day, especially the Book of Mormon, because there is lots of guidance on how to live our lives in those pages.
