Hi I'm Terry

I'm a father, husband, computer engineer, youth leader, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have spent my career developing and validating computer microprocessors in two different large technology companies. This fascinating and complex work has given me a great deal of appreciation for science and the application of our scientific knowledge. As amazing as the computer is, people are far more amazing. I (like you) am a child of God. I am blessed to be a loving and devoted husband and father of 5 wonderful children. I have worked as a Boy Scout leader for 14 years, and love spending time in the mountains. I love being a mentor for youth and feeling their enthusiasm and energy. I also enjoy creating music with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in what most would consider an “ideal family.” While we didn’t have much money, we had great happiness and peace in our home. My friends enjoyed coming to my home because of the feeling of love and friendship provided by my parents and siblings. In this environment, I was free to participate and to question the faith of my parents, who were both faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). At about the age of 14, I recognized that I needed to know for myself if the gospel was true. I could no longer rely on someone else’s faith and testimony. Deep in my heart, I had to know this for myself, or walk away from it. I had felt the Holy Spirit in my youth at church and when reading scriptures with my family, but at this cross-road of life, I really wanted to know if God existed, if I was a child of God, if Jesus Christ was my Savior and if this Mormon religion was true. I testify that my personal study and analysis over time, followed by fervent prayer, led me to my own sure witness from God that these things were (and are) true. With great joy and gratitude, I share this witness with you. This knowledge has been the basis for my own faith and full activity in the church since that time. I have seen my own family blessed by this knowledge and have watched with interest as my own children have reached the point of desiring to gain their own witness that it is true. Great joy comes through faith in our Savior, Jesus Chris. I feel most blessed!

How I live my faith

I find that whether I’m working as an engineering manager at a large computer company, being a father, or working as a leader for a Boy Scout troop or Scout venture crew, I am surrounded by wonderful people with unique talents, abilities and aspirations. I find great satisfaction in helping others achieve their potential and discover new capabilities within themselves. There is nothing as exciting as seeing someone achieve something difficult, perhaps which they thought was impossible. Through such successes, they recognize a growing sense of self-worth as their abilities increase. I believe this is how our Savior, Jesus Christ, touches our lives. We each face challenges, and sometimes we struggle or fall. Sometimes the journey of life can be filled with a string of difficulties, aches and pain. Through the atonement of our Savior, we can “get back up” and receive strength, encouragement, solace and comfort. Ultimately, if we keep trying, we will succeed. This is made possible through the support and love of our Savior, who never gives up on us.
