Hi I'm Scott

I am a human resources professional in the construction industry, have lived all over, a father of 3 girls, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

It seems like I have seen the world. I have moved around a lot. I have lived in 20 or more different cities big and small, 6 different states east and west, and 2 countries outside of the US. As a young teenager my family moved to Singapore because of my dads new job. I served my mormon mission in Tampico, Mexico and I speak Spanish. Well, in reality I speak Mexican. I have a Masters in Human Resources from Utah State University. Currently, I work as an HR Professional and Recruiter for an industrial construction company. I have been married for 6 years and I love my beautiful wife and 3 wonderful girls all under the age of 5. They are so good to me. For fun I like to hike, camp, play games on my computer, board games with my family and spend time with them on the lake and just have fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a mormon family that has always been active in the church. I always knew it was good to go and I always believed the things I was taught. But shortly before I went on my mission to Mexico I had to know why I was going. I didn't want to just “go with the flow.” I needed to know without a doubt whether or not what I was going to teach was true. So, I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Heavenly Father and asked if these things were true. Shortly thereafter, as I realized the Holy Ghost had testified to me on numerous occasions beforehand, I was singing a Hymn titled the “Spirit of God” at that point I knew without a doubt that the Holy Ghost was testifying to my heart of the truthfulness of the things I have been taught throughout my life. For a few minutes I could not hold back the tears of joy that I felt at that moment and the gratitude that I had for what I had been given through the gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that these things are true and Jesus is the Christ and I cannot deny it.

How I live my faith

I realize that I make mistakes all of the time. So, as a return missionary I strive to live my faith and improve every day by reading my scriptures and praying. I attend church each Sunday. Every Monday night my family and I devote our time together to learn about the gospel and play games with each other. I try to be the best I can at what I do with work and family by being honest and keeping the commandments. At Church I serve in my designated responsibilities by teaching and helping those in need, sometimes I go out with the missionaries and help them in their efforts to find new people to join the church. Each month, I try to visit a few families in my area to make sure they are doing well and support them with any problems or needs they might have. I serve because I know that Heavenly Father loves me and he needs our help to bring everyone back to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It has richly blessed my life and I know if others follow the principles of the gospel it will bless their lives as well.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

What a blessing it is to have a physical body. There are so many things that we can physically do and enjoy in this world. I am glad that I have been counseled from a young age not to drink alcohol, coffee and tea, or to use drugs and tobacco. I live a healthy life and I think that plays a big part in my health and ability to enjoy the outdoors and not worry about being sick all of the time or hurting someone else in the process of doing so. Plus, I don't have to worry about feeding an expensive addiction to these substances. Through a prophet in our time we have been given a commandment from God to not partake of these substances, and to eat properly. He has promised physical and spiritual blessings by doing so. I know that God has given us this commandment for a reason, and I know that I have been able to have the blessings associated with this commandment. I have a great peace of mind by doing so, and it truly is amazing. Show more Show less
