Hi I'm Alyson

I style hair. I rip phonebooks in half. I love to play soccer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of three girls. My parents are divorced and they are both converts to the church. I grew up in California and one of my favorite things to do is be a tourist in my home state. There are lots of things to see in California and I love to see them. I got my B.A. in History from BYU-Idaho. I love playing the piano for my family and friends and church meetings. I served a mission in the Washington Tacoma Mission. I have a passion for styling hair and I love to make my friends and family look great for weddings and other important events. I am a planner and I love being organized. I love roadtrips. I also love dogs, especially big dogs. Someday I want to have a St. Bernard or a Mastiff. Or I might just settle on a lab. Depends on where life takes me and how much room I have.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this church since I was 8 years old and I was taught from a young age to pray to know for myself if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. I have learned to recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost in my life teaching me what is true. Because of those feelings from the Holy Ghost I know that the church is true and I will continue to follow Christ's gospel. The Holy Ghost, or the Spirit, comes to me in small and simple ways. I have to pay attention to what I am doing and how I am feeling in order to recognize what I am being told. I have learned that as long as I am doing my best and what I know to be right, then I will not go astray and will be continually led in truth and righteousness. When I was 14 years old, the same age as Joseph Smith when he prayed to know which church to join, I was a part of a play/pageant called "And it Came to Pass" at the Oakland Temple. During a rehearsal of a scene involving the organization of the church and the few members at that time who believed Joseph, I was able to reflect on my own testimony of the gospel. I felt good about the choices I had made in my life to follow the prophet and to be a member of Christ's church. I thought to myself how hard it must have been in the early days of the church and what great faith these few members had when they believed Joseph Smith. I know that this church is true and I am another witness that this is Christ's true church on the earth today. I invite everyone to read the Book of Mormon and take Moroni's challenge to pray with a sincere heart to know if the book is true. All sincere seekers of truth will come to find that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and that the Church of Jesus Christ is the true church on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I love to serve. Whenever I am asked or an opportunity presents itself I love to play the piano or organ for church meetings. I also enjoy singing and playing the piano for any activities, parties, or just plain enjoyment. I may not be good at many things, but I am always willing to help out. I am really good at following directions. I do my best to live my faith by doing what is right and treating others the way that I would like to be treated.
