Hi I'm Joe

I grew up in Utah all my life as one of nine children. I love everything to do with sports and the outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently pursuing a degree in Podiatry. I have been interested in medicine all my life as well as athletics. I love all sports but my passion is soccer. I have played soccer all my life and I continue to play to this day. I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, camping, boating and pretty much anything outdoors. I come from a big family of nine kids and I love hanging out with my brothers and sisters.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family all my life so it has been fairly easy for me to live the standards and principles set forth by the Mormon church. However, as a young kid I greatly wanted to know for myself if I was part of Gods one true church or if I was just part of a faith proclaiming to be. I decided that if it was the true church then surely God would make it known to me. God eventually did make it known to me but it took a lot of effort on my part before God was willing to reveal to me such precious truths. I became a student of The Book of Mormon as well as the Bible. I tried to make my attendance at church more meaningful as well as my prayers. I also made a greater effort to live the gospel that is taught in the scriptures. Such efforts on my part lead me to make various behavioral changes in my life, changes that are possible through repentance and the atonement of Jesus Christ. Through it all I was able to bring myself closer to God and by so doing I put myself in a position to be able to feel the Holy Spirit and receive revelation. Through this process I went from hoping, to believing, to knowing. I know that this is the true church because it has been revealed to me from God in such a way that was unmistakable. But like I said earlier, for me this knowledge did not come so easy. I definitely feel like I had to put my all in to it. Sometimes I think that God is willing to reveal to us his truths only after we have proven to him that we really want them and that we are willing to abide by them.

How I live my faith

There are many things I do to live my faith. I read, ponder and pray over the scriptures. I attend church regularly. I currently teach a temple preparation course to prepare members of the church to attend the temple. Of all the things I do, I feel that the most important way I demonstrate how I live my faith is how I treat others. I'm a firm believer in the golden rule, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and, love your neighbor as you love yourself."
