Hi I'm Keri

I'm a dancer, a dance teacher, and an avid political enthusiast, but most importantly of all - I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate of Arizona State University. I am a political junkie and a lover of all things dance. I married my best friend in 2010 and we are now happily living in Arizona. Currently, I teach dance to students from 3-20 and I also work on a political campaign. Call me crazy, but I love having a busy and hectic life!! Life can get crazy when you work multiple jobs, stress over a yearly recital, and seemingly never have time to just relax. What keeps me going is the knowledge that there is something bigger, grander, than what I am doing. In the end, all my activities are serving one purpose - enriching my soul. I am trying (and not always succeeding) in filling my time with activities that strengthen my spirit, cement my character, and inspire my ideas.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family, I was blessed with parents who provided me with a good example of what it means to be a true disciple of Christ. Despite my wonderful background, I wasn't truly what you would call a devoted member of the Church until I found I really needed it in my life. In high school one of my best friends was killed in a tragic car accident. Until that experience I didn't know what it was like to truly feel sorrow. My limited experiences in a happy family had not prepared me to deal with the tragedies of life, but luckily my experiences in the Church had given me a foundation to fall back on when I was faced with this challenge. Instead of becoming bitter and angry at the unfairness of the situation I chose to rely on the Church, and most especially on Christ for repose. In so doing, I discovered what makes this Gospel the true Gospel, and that is our belief in personal revelation. Without that belief I would have never chosen to seek out personal deliverance from the emotional turmoil I felt, and had I not reached out for that deliverance I would never have known the sweet blessing of being personally comforted by Christ. It is my testimony that He lives, He is aware of our struggles, and He WILL come to our aid and rescue us from the trials and tribulations of this mortal world we find ourselves in. I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity I was given at an early age to discover the redeeming nature of this Gospel, and I will never forget the blessing it has been, and will continue to be in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by holding "callings". A calling is basically an assignment in the ward (or community) that I live in. For instance, right now I am assigned to teach the "sunbeam" class. The sunbeams are 3-4 years old and I have the opportunity to teach them on Sundays for 2 hours. I love my sunbeams and I am so thankful that I get to spend time with them each week. They teach me more than I think I teach them.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Keri
I really do believe that there is prophet like Moses alive today. Until the Dark Ages, God never left His children without a Prophet to provide guidance, counsel, and directions. With the calling of the Prophet Joseph Smith as the first prophet of this dispensation, God has once again provided that guidance to His children today. Since the Prophet Joseph's calling, the Church has not been without a prophet to lead us and guide us through inspiration from our Heavenly Father. I believe that we have a prophet today in President Thomas S. Monson and I believe that he is led by our Heavenly Father to guide us in the things we should do. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Keri
Families can be together forever!! I don't believe there is a more joyous statement than that. I cherish my family, my parents, my brothers and sisters, and I adore my husband. I don't have children yet, but I know when I do I will love them in a way that must be eternal. I can not imagine life without my family, be it in this life or the next. For me, that is one of the simplest truths of being a member of this Church. I CAN be with those I love forever. While I don't understand the details of how this eternal life together will be, I know it is true. I know in my heart and soul that I will be blessed to live with those I love forever. Any other type of existence after this life would not be heaven to me, and I feel so loved by our Father in Heaven for providing me with that knowledge. Show more Show less
