Hi I'm Ryan

I grew up in Dallas, TX. I studied Industrial Design at Metro State in Denver. I love cycling and climbing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a twin and a passionate cyclist and outdoors enthusiast! I geek out way too much on gear and love rock and ice climbing. I'm studying Industrial Design and have finally found a degree that fills my soul. It is awesome. I'm also a huge movie and music buff. I dabble with the banjo and can play the guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I've studied just about every religion I can think of and grew up in the Bible Belt of East Texas, and it confused me so much that there could be so many religions and faiths in such a small town. I read the Book of Mormon and could feel the same feelings I got from the Bible and could easily recognize the many truths therein. After finishing reading The Book of Mormon, I already knew it was true, but still followed the counsel given by Moroni in Chapter 10. I asked God if this book was of Him, and my answer did not come immediately as anticipated. I had to work for that answer dangit. I prayed and prayed, and read and read, and finally one day when I was not even expecting it, an overwhelming feeling came upon me. This answer was not an angel, or the golden plates, or the sun peaking through the heavens. This answer was beyond every one of my physical senses. It was an answer that I could not rationalize to myself later in life and say I just conjured up that experience through my own imagination. This answer was an answer from God, and it was an answer to my soul. It was something I could not deny. Since this experience, I have continued to receive confirmations from the Spirit of the truthfulness of Christ's Church being restored in the latter-days. The more and more I truly seek to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the more and more I am blown away that my Heavenly Father loves me enough to give me the opportunity to reap the blessings of His Words. I know that Christ's Church has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and that there is a living prophet today that receives revelation as prophets did in ancient times. This gospel has brought me the eternal and internal happiness that gives me the strength to get through the trials and many stresses of life. I encourage everyone to do as I did, and truly ask the ultimate source of all truth, God, whether or not this is His Church.

How I live my faith

After gaining a testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I decided that I would serve a 2 year mission and sent my papers in to receive a calling. I was called to serve in the Denmark Copenhagen Mission, where I learned the Danish language and served and loved the Danish people. After returning from my mission I moved to Utah and then to Denver, Colorado. I serve as a ward missionary, where I have the opportunity to go out with the full-time missionaries and teach and serve in the Denver area. Denver is one of the greatest places in the world, and the members there are equally as rad and great, too!

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is the single most important decision I've made my entire life. The blessings of the Restored Gospel is on the earth today and the happiness associated with those blessings are more than just skin deep. People may think that it is hard, but when you are with the Lord, His yoke is easy, and all things are possible through Him. I know that the blessings of the keeping the commandments far outweigh what society thinks is acceptable and "hip," but you know what, this Gospel IS happiness, and IS fun, and IS exciting!! Yes, there are still trials. Opposition will always follow the truth. However, I have filled that empty void in my life with internal and eternal happiness. To know for a surety that God lives and loves us and answers our prayers is the greatest peace in my life. I know He listens to all of our prayers and knows all of our situations, and provides a way sometimes harder than we'd like for us to keep His commandments and be on the path He'd like us to be on so that we can return to live with Him someday.
