Hi I'm Thad

I'm a busy Dad of five kids, railroad project manager, and musician. Something's always going on at our house. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a busy Dad trying to balance a challenging career with service at home, church, and in the community. I graduated from college with degrees in music and finance - the finance degree pays the bills, and the music degree helps to keep my creative side alive and contributing to the community. For the past 10 years or so I've worked in project management and budgeting for a major railroad in the great state of Nebraska. My wife is my partner in my career, my spiritual life, and our family - we love to laugh and sing together, and the best night of the week is "date night". With our five children either at home (baby), or in elementary, middle, and high school, you'll find me with them enjoying their activities (soccer, Scouting, dance, piano) or trying to find a little extra time on the piano or in the family garden. There's always something going on at our house. If you can't tell already, I'm a serial overcommitter, and so when life gets hectic at work or home I appreciate how the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ brings an eternal and peaceful perspective to life's daily challenges.

Why I am a Mormon

Everyone sooner or later runs up against limitations in their life - when life seems unfair or unjust, or when you're not as good as you want to be. Jesus Christ is my Savior, because he saves me not only from my sins and imperfections, but from the ultimate pain of life's trials. Christ can heal the wounded soul, and through prayer, scripture study, and trying to follow Christ's example in my day to day living I know that I've felt His power and love - and that makes me more happy than anything else. At the same time, the Gospel as revealed through prophets, both ancient and modern, is very practical - a guide for daily living that helps me be a better man. Daily prayer and scripture study have helped me countless times with guidance and inspiration that I found applications for that very day at work or at home. Bottom line, I'm a Mormon because the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ works in my life.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ by treating each person I come into contact with as a fellow brother or sister. The Church teaches that our most important priority is our families. We can make covenants with God so that we can be with our families forever. My life is centered around becoming the kind of husband and father that can nuture our family relationships so that we want to be together forever. That means spending quality time with my family, being a good example to them, and teaching the values and attitudes that will help my children to be responsible, caring adults. The teachings of the Church reinforce and infom my efforts to do this. The Church has no paid clergy: everyone is able to volunteer their time to help out. Throughout my life I've served in a variety of Church responsibilities, including Scoutmaster, organist, teaching music to preschoolers, Sunday School teacher, and administrative positions. Each opportunity to serve has been both a challenge to help me grow, and a blessing as I have been able to serve others.
