Hi I'm Duane

I'm a Mormon. I was raised on a small farm in southern Idaho. Now I'm a retired farmer. I fish and spend time with my family.

About Me

I am grateful for the opportunity I had to farm. I farmed for 36 years so I was able to involve my growing children in the work I did, teaching them to work, and to be responsible for their work. I tried to teach them to be honest in their work and in their associations with people. Even though farming was a time consuming occupation, I tried to spend time with our growing family, reading stories, eating popcorn and playing games. Some of the simple games we played, our children remember with fondness and they play the same games with their children. We enjoyed making trips to the hills for firewood. My sons and I fished occassionally and now I fish with my brother. My sons join me when their work permits it.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the church at age eight, which is typical in many church families. Over the years, I learned for myself that the teachings of the church are true. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is founded on the teachings of the Savior. He is the Savior of the world. His atoning sacrifice makes it possible to repent of our sins. The church teaches the family is the basic unit in the church. Through making and keeping sacred covenants, we can be a family through the eternities.

How I live my faith

I wanted my children to know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was important to me, so we attended church regularly and served when asked to do so. In our home, we taught our children to say personal prayers and involved them in family prayers, morning and night. I served when invited to do so, including routinely and consistently visiting my neighbors and seeing that their needs are met. I encouraged my children to do likewise. I have tried to keep the commandments and follow the Savior's example by being honest in my dealings with others and helping care for the poor and needy. Over the years, I have served with both scouts and adult men, I am currently filling an assignment to deliver commodities to those in need and helping with a family history project.
