Hi I'm Shay

I love to run. I spend all my free time outdoors, but I'm also an accounting major. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I am attending a university and majoring in accounting. When I'm not doing homework though, I love to spend time outdoors. The mountains are where I feel most alive and at home. I love hiking, camping, dirtbiking, archery, and pretty much anything else outside. Probably my favorite thing to do outside though, is run. I started running in high school, and I never really stopped. I have run marathons and I hope to run at the collegiate level. When I need a break, I love reading. Brian Tracy is probably one of my favorite authors.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born with parents who were already members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, so I grew up learning the Gospel. Eventually, I had to gain my own testimony and figure out if I really believed that everything I had learned was true. Today I can honestly say that I know it is. I remember the day I had one of the strongest confirmations of the reality of the Gospel. I was in a high school religion class, and we were discussing the Plan of Salvation. We talked about how we can all return to live with our Father in Heaven and be with our families forever. I had been praying a lot lately to know if what I believed was true, and that day in class I knew it. As we talked about God's eternal plan for our lives, I felt an incredible peace and also a triumphant joy. I knew with all my heart that this Gospel wasn't just a nice story that helps us through times of sorrow; it is real. The Atonement is real, the Plan of Salvation is real, and we can learn, live, and love forever because of the Atonement our older brother performed in our behalf. I know this is true, and I want everyone to know what I know. I testify of these things in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I am in a young single adults ward, and in my ward I am the activities coordinator. Basically, my job is to plan activities to give everyone the opportunity to be involved, get to know each other, and just have fun. During the summer we have done things like bike riding in the canyon, water sliding at the park, volleyball, and barbeque's. I love having this job in my ward because it is fun to see everyone enjoying themselves and getting to know each other better. I think it is important to include time for fun in our lives. I like giving people the opportunity to take a break from school, work, and other church responsibilities, and simply enjoy themselves.
