Hi I'm Val

I'm a wife, a proud mama of 5 children, and 5 grandchildren, a teacher, and a convert to the church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I became a member of this church at age 17. This decision shaped my life and helped me become many things I could not have become on my own. I love colors. It is hard to choose a favorite because they are all beautiful. I love to see the sunrises and sunsets in Colorado. My family is my first priority. Spending time with the members of my family is my favorite activity. We get very silly sometimes, and we laugh a lot when we are together. I love to learn. I went back to graduate school at age 50. I was the oldest student in my classes. It was a daunting task at first, but very rewarding. I love to read. As a teacher, I help students become better readers and find a love of reading for themselves.

Why I am a Mormon

I struggled to find my place as a teenager. When I came in contact with the church I learned that I am a Daughter of God and that God has a plan for my life. It was such a comfort to know that I was not alone in the world. I studied, prayed, and felt the Holy Ghost witness to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. Living the gospel has brought so many blessings and so much joy into my life! I want to be with my family forever. I know that this is possible if I live the gospel and try to become a little better every day.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the example Jesus set for us as I live my life. I want people to be able to see who I am by the way I live. I especially think it is important to set a good example for the students I teach because many of them don't have a lot of good examples in their lives. I oversee the women's organization in our congregation. I help plan lessons and activities that help women improve themselves, strengthen their families, increase their spirituality, and serve others. I want every woman in our congregation to know that Heavenly Father and Jesus love her. I want each women to know that she is important, and that she has gifts and talents she has been blessed with. It is a blessing to serve those in my congregation, school, and community. When I serve others my challenges seem smaller and I feel happy.
