Hi I'm Zach

I'm a law student and an illustrator. I'm an outdoors guy and a movie lover. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a full-time student in law school. On the side I invest, illustrate, and do web and graphic design. I love my family and love hanging out with them and my friends! I'm currently single, but I'm looking forward to starting my own family someday. I'm an avid movie-watcher and book-reader, especially if it is Star Wars! I love the outdoors and jump at any opportunity to go adventuring, hiking, climbing, canoeing, or whatever! I genuinely enjoy serving in my church in any way I can. I strive to be balanced person and love living life.

Why I am a Mormon

Both sets of my grandparents joined this church when my parents were young, so when I was eventually born, it was into a wonderful family of Mormons. From an early age, I was taught the gospel principles and values which my family holds so dear. I could see how those principles greatly blessed me and my family. In my college years, I had some very special spiritual experiences and answers to my prayers. I could tell that when I was living the principles of my faith I felt a closeness to the spirit of God, I was full of hope and faith, and I was happy. One of those answers was that I needed to serve of two-year, full-time mission. And I did... in Arizona. Since that time, my testimony in Jesus Christ has grown and solidified. I know that I am on the path that Heavenly Father wants me to be on, and that this church, led my modern-prophets, is the true church on the earth today. It has changed my life!

How I live my faith

My faith is very personal and near to my heart. It really permeates every area of my life. When school (or life in general) gets hectic or when trials come, the gospel helps me to have an eternal perspective. Then things do not seem so stressful, and I'm able to trust in the Lord and focus on serving others. I absolutely love our beautiful temples, and I have the great opportunity to serve in the temple every week! It is such a peaceful, spiritual place. I feel recharged every time I enter into that sacred place. With my assignment in the church, I serve on a council and I have the great opportunity to visit different LDS congregations in my area. As assigned, I speak to them once a month, and teach individuals how to better fulfill their church responsibilities. I also organize local church-sponsored community fairs, cultural events, and service projects. Though not always easy, this church assignment has given me many great learning experiences of leading, speaking, organizing, teaching, and especially leaning on the Lord for support. It is truly wonderful how Heavenly Father teaches and supports us, and gives us the gospel tools to be successful in this life and return to live with him in the life to come!

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Zach
"Mormon" is a nickname that members of our faith were labeled when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was first established, because we believe in the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ. This book of scripture in no way replaces the Bible. It compliments it as a second witness of Jesus Christ and His gospel. "In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established," 2 Corinthians 131. We also believe that Christ's true church will have the same organization and "fruits" as the church that Jesus Christ established in New Testament times. We believe that the church should be led by prophets and apostles who are called by God, that our leaders must have God's Priesthood authority received by the laying on of hands, that the heavens are not closed meaning revelation is freely given from God to us, and that ordinances such as baptism and the Gift of the Holy Ghost are required for salvation. We believe that this authority and these and other truths, such as the true nature of God, were lost after Christ and His apostles were killed, but were then restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that these things are true by the Spirit of God. And it is such a comfort and blessing have these answers and to feel their power in my life. Show more Show less
