Hi I'm Jere

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am husband to Allyson, dad to Maggie (4), Max (3), and Mayzie (born April, 2012) youngest sibling to Julie, Jenny and Jeff, and son to Peggy. I work at Mesa Community College in the Music Department as the Performing Arts Event Coordinator and I'm an actor, teacher, director and coach for theatres around the valley.

Why I am a Mormon

I was searching for truth during a very dark time in my life. I had a friend ask me if I believed there was a prophet on the earth today. I said, "no." I believed that Christ came to fulfill all prophecies and that was the end of it. I was reminded of how when Christ ascended into heaven he left Peter, James, John, and the other disciples "in charge" and was asked if I believed they could be considered prophets. I immediately said, "Well, yes, I guess so." The conversation continued and we then discussed how Peter, James, John, etc would be considered prophets and how they continued to pass down the "keys" or authority to the next person and so on - essentially, there was always a prophet on the earth. We talked more about things and the question was posed to me that if there was a prophet on the earth today would I want to know about it. Without hesitation I said, "Absolutely!" I was then challenged to "ask God," and was told that if I really wanted to know if there was a prophet on the earth today all I needed to do was ask God and He'd tell me that there is or isn't and I'd have my answer. It was really, that simple for me. I prayed, and prayed, and prayed, and prayed until I received confirmation that yes, there was a prophet on the earth. Then I needed to figure out if it was either the Pope or "the Mormon guy." I prayed some more, and some more, and then some more and discovered that there was indeed a prophet on the earth today and that it was the head of the Mormon church. That changed my life forever. Once I received confirmation it just made sense that this is where I belonged. It works for me.

How I live my faith

I teach the high school age kids in Sunday School, and I LOVE it! =)
