Hi I'm Ames

I grew up in St.George Utah. I love Scuba Diving, Hiking, Shooting, Snowboarding, Jet Skiing, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family consists of my mom and dad, an older sister, and a identical twin brother. I love going to new places and exploring diffrent areas. Right now I am planning on majoring in chemical engenerring with the possibul minor in photography. I completed one year of college before coming out on my mission, so I still may change my mind before graduation. Im a kick back and relax type of guy, But love doing anything outdoors. Mainly: hiking, mountain biking, rappelling, snowboarding, scuba diving, wakeboarding, and camping just to name a few. I enjoy doing these things and others with my friends and especialy my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents were members of the church when I was born, and growing up in Utah, you could say I have been imersed in the church my whole life. It wasnt until a year or so ago (2010) in the summer when I really thought about the church and whether I was going on a mission because I wanted to or just because I didnt want to catch a lecture from my dad. I would be turning 19 early the following year, and as a member of the church would be preparing to serve a mission. I decided that if I was going to plan on going on a mission that I had better know for myself that I wanted to go so that I wouldnt waste two years of my life. I prayed every night that I could know that everything was true so that I could be ready for my mission. I believed it was true, I didnt quite "know" though. I just wanted that overwelming feeling that you always hear about. I continued to prepare for my mission, and it wasnt until the begining of the next year that I realized why I was a member of the church. It wasnt until I realized that I had something that other people didnt have. Happiness. It was when I stopped looking toward myself and paying more attention to others, and seeing the struggles in their lives that it really dawned on me how my life really wasnt that bad at all. I had my testimony of the savior and of the scriptures that I could lean on for help and guidance. That testimony was always there, however small it was at the time. I just had to find it. Since having found it, I have never been happier in my life, Everything just started falling into place, and there wasnt anyting that could make me think twice about who I was or what I was representing.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full time mission for the Church. I am serving in the Arizona Tucson Mission, which covers most of the state from Tucson down to the Mexico border. I love being able to go out every day and talking to people about the church. Some people always wonder why Mormons are so eager to talk to people about the gospel. It is because we have seen it play such an amazing part of our lives that we just want to share it with our friends. That is the reason I am serving a mission. Because all of the joy and happiness and fun im my life I can only attribute to being a member of this church, and I want to take what I have and give it to everyone else. Being a Missionary I can talk to people on the street, or knock of peoples doors and share the Gospel and not feel awkward or embarassed at all. It has been the funnest time of my life.
