Hi I'm Andrew

I am a brother, a student, and a musician. Star Wars will always be my first love. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small farming town in northern Utah. That is the place I will always call home. Right now I am serving as a missionary for the church, but prior to that I was studying electrical engineering at a university near my home. I am first and foremost a giant nerd. I love computers, star wars, fantasy books, and all those things that stereotype me as a geek. I also love music. I play classical piano when I can and am in a few different rock bands. All my other hobbies have to do with the outdoors. I love hiking, snowboarding, skiing, rock climbing, and anything in the mountains. Living in Utah, with the mountains in my backyard, is great. There is always something nearby to go and do outside.

Why I am a Mormon

So why am I a Mormon? I suppose the easiest answer would be that I am a Mormon because my parents were Mormons, but that is not completely the case. I'm sure that without their great examples of Christianity, I would not be where I am today, but I was never one to follow along blindly. In my earlier years, I always wanted to know if the things I was being taught in church and religion classes were true, but I was never really sure. That was when I followed the council at the end of the Book or Mormon in Moroni 10:3-5 (pg.529). It tells us to read the words in this book and to pray to the father to know if they are true. It promises that if we do so, we will receive an answer. So that is what I did. I simply read and prayed. I can't say that I got an answer all at once, or in some amazing way. My faith in the Book of Mormon grew slowly but surely as I continued to study the Book of Mormon and prayed to the Father. Now, I can honestly say that the promise I followed with a desire to know has been fulfilled. I have received an answer. I know now, without any doubt, that God loves me and that the Book or Mormon is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith simply from day to day. Right now, I am serving as a missionary for the church, so I am much more involved than I once was. I do what I do because of my belief that I have a message that others can benefit from. I love going out each day to meet new people and to simply talk about how a belief in Jesus Christ can give us purpose and joy in this life. Back home, I lived my faith in a much less active way. I just went to church on Sunday and read from the Book of Mormon and the Bible. My belief in Jesus Christ was something that helped me through my troubles from day to day.
