Hi I'm Dave

Born in Taiwan, grew up in Australia & Canada. I am proudly defined by my origins, my family, and my faith. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I come from a small but close family. I can say with conviction and without exaggerated superlatives that I've lived in the greatest trifecta of nations in the world: Taiwan, Australia, and CANADA! I studied Biology in university and now I am currently working and studying in the field of accounting - I know, totally exciting!! I appreciate the simple things - fantastic friends, nature, wildlife, comfy pajama pants, good tunes to sing to, dabbling in piano, waking up to country music, learning about different cultures, hilariously awkward moments in life, sarcastic quips, delicious sushi, Linsanity, strengthening my surgically repaired ACL, going to the gym and realizing I'm totally out of shape, cold pizza for breakfast, Cadbury eggs for lunch, and the scriptures!

Why I am a Mormon

My grandmother first met the missionaries in Taiwan 50 years ago. My family experienced many miracles as they joined the church. During college, I realized that I needed to discover my own relationship with God and to have a better understanding of my religion. I studied the words of ancient and modern prophets, and prayed that God would give me answers. I started to see miracles in my own life, and gain my own spiritual experiences, just as my family did. When God gives you an answer, you cannot deny it. He is real. This is Christ's living church and I knew that I had a duty to share it with others, which is why I served a mission in Australia, spreading the Gospel there. Although life is not without doubts and challenges, it is through the teachings of this church that I am able to find answers to life's most important questions. Through those teachings I find solace, purpose, and hope through my trials.

How I live my faith

Equally important with faith in God is the ability and desire to put that faith into action. I try to live my faith firstly through the simple things - regular prayer and studying God's scriptures. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the foundation for true happiness and peace. As I follow His teachings, I realize more and more the need to show charity and patience in all aspects of life - at work, school, among peers, and especially at home. The church provides endless opportunities to gather as brothers and sisters, share with each other our faith and our experiences, and visit and fellowship one another. It's an eternal process, but I feel very privileged and blessed to have these growing opportunities through the church. I know that it's through those around us that God answers our prayers. Therefore, we each have a duty to strive to be a blessing, rather than a burden, to all those around us.
