Hi I'm Tony

I've lived in Tennessee most of my life. I've had a 10-year career as a draftsman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've worked for ten years as a draftsman for teams designing electronic security systems for U.S. Army bases (my dad was in the Army, stationed in (then West) Germany when I was born). I'm a fan of several sci-fi/fantasy movies and TV shows (including both Star Wars and Star Trek, for very different reasons), as well as old-school game shows (up to and including the original Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?). I enjoy driving around town just for fun (though I know not to do too much of it so as to not waste gas, which is quite expensive these days). I like eating Italian and Mexican food as well as American. I enjoy playing games, although over 90% of the time I play them by myself against the computer. I haven't had very many friends over my life, but I treasure those I do have/have had.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church, and have been taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ by my parents (who were both converts from different denominational backgrounds). As someone who is naturally skeptical - if not cynical - of religion and its place in the world (after having observed and researched many other religions), I could have left the Church at any time since I became an adult. However, several times I have read and re-read the Book of Mormon (as well as the Bible), and having prayed to know the truth for myself, I have had warm feelings confirming that these scriptural accounts, plus others by/from the time of Joseph Smith, were true, that Jesus Christ is our Savior and the Only Begotten Son of God the Father, and that His true Church and Gospel are here on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I attend weekly Sunday morning meetings every week. I also attend an Institute of Religion (a college-level study course from the Church) to help me in my understanding and study of the scriptures, and to hang out with some of my friends from the general area where I live. I also participate in my local unit's choir as a bass (even though I'm a baritone, but my voice is too low for the tenor section). Every month I do my best to go home teaching with my assigned companion to some other Church members' homes. I show my faith by treating others kindly every day, and helping others whenever I can to the best of my ability.
