Hi I'm Sherise

I'm a Mormon. I speak Spanish well German not so much. I think everyone is my best friend until they tell me otherwise.

About Me

I have recently lost 100 pounds which has enable me to climb any mountain and forge every stream. My family lived in Israel and I was grateful to visit them there and learn to walk as Jesus walked. My husband I love to travel and have been to Istanbul, Europe, and China. I have 100 first cousins, yes 100, and I know all of their names and the majority of their birthdays. I collect frogs and can speak and dream in Spanish. I have made a valiant attempt to learn German. I have taught English to second language learners but they have taught me much more.

Why I am a Mormon

I just visited my family and although my family isn't perfect I feel like my family is like the scene in Thorton Wilder's, Our Town, when the main character, Emily, returns to earth for relive an ordinary 12th birthday with her family. She realized how precious life is how choice her family is and she says to her angel, "Does any body realize how precious life is while they are living it? The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me recognize how precious life is and how I want to work hard to be with my family in heaven. This is made possible by the death and resurrection of Christ. My religion teaches that Heavenly Father is a kind God and works hard and gives us every opportunity to get us back to heaven. I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and have prayed and received an answer that it is true. I am a Mormon because I believe in the Prophet Joseph Smith. I truly believe in the current prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. I believe in daily repentance.

How I live my faith

Every day I try to do a good turn, I call someone who needs uplifted. I read in the Book of Mormon or the Holy Bible every day. I pray. I journal to write how I have seen the hand of the Lord in my life that day. I testify that it was through the power of God that I was able to lose the 100 pounds. I currently head the womens organization in my congregation and I am inspired by their service to God and their testimonies.
