Hi I'm Kamie

I'm a wife, a friend, a student, and a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a young woman whose life is just beginning. I got married a few months ago to a wonderful man, and we've been living happily since. We are both students. We both also work, attempt to have a social life, and go on a date together once a week. So basically, life is crazy, but we still manage to slow down enough to find joy. I am finding that one of my greatest joys is being a wife. I care more about cooking, cleaning and making my husband happy than I do about school and work, but I still go to school and work because I know those things are important, too. I am grateful for the blessing of eternal families. I would consider myself a pretty normal person. I love musicals, yoga, the outdoors, and dancing. I am studying nutrition in school. I have two dreams. One is to go to Italy and see all the beautiful art and architecture, especially the Sistine Chapel. My other dream is to have a happy home filled with a love of the Lord, lots of children running around, the smell of homemade bread, and a husband who loves me dearly. If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose the second. Nothing is more important to me than my family and the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the Lord. I don't think I could live without the gospel of Christ. I live my life to become like the Savior, and to one day receive the blessings of eternal life. For me, I find it difficult to find anything else that is more worth living for. I have tried sometimes, only to find that I become depressed and disappointed. Nothing brings peace and happiness like knowing that the Lord loves you and is pleased with how you are living your life. I love the peace that comes from knowing that the Savior will forgive me of all my sins when I repent and strive to do my very best. He understands me, and wants me to be happy, not only in this life, but in the next. He will help me to reach my full potential. I guess most Christians would agree with most of what I have already said, so why is it that I am a Mormon rather than another denomination of Christianity? It comes down to my faith in a God and a Savior who are constant. They have used prophets to communicate with their children on earth since the days of Adam, and I believe that They continue to do so today. I believe that the priesthood (the authority and power to act in God's name) was lost from the earth after the apostles of Christ were martyred. This priesthood was restored to the earth when it was given to Joseph Smith. Today, President Monson holds this same priesthood. I believe that the Lord has a plan that will help all of us to return home to live with Him again, and we can know this plan by following His prophets. I know that God loves all of His children, and He wants all of them to receive the blessings of the gospel of Christ. That is why Mormon's do missionary work, to help God's children come unto Christ and be blessed. Mormonism is a happy religion, one that focuses on loving God, the Savior, and all Their children. I love being a part of that. I also love being able to receive all of the saving ordinances of the gospel of Christ. Basically, I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every minute of everyday. That doesn't mean that I'm at church all the time or on my knees praying all the time. It means that I strive to constantly be thinking of my Savior and what He would want me to do. I listen to the Holy Ghost when it prompts me to do something. I would say that my entire life has been devoted to the Savior because, when I have made all of the most important decisions in my life, I have sought His advice and done what I thought He would have me do. That is what led me to go to college at BYU. That is what led me to marry my husband. Even in the little things I am guided by my Savior. I live my faith by keeping the commandments of the Lord. I believe that obedience is necessary to receive blessings. The Lord, after all, has offered us all the gift of His atonement and the blessings of forgiveness that come from it, and He merely asks us to do a few things for Him in return. I think the price is far worth it. I am not perfect, and I make mistakes, but I am always striving to be my best. I know that as long as I never stop trying and always refuse to give into Satan, the Lord will accept me as His own. I also live my faith by serving others. This includes trying to be a good example, or a "city set on a hill" as Christ described. I try to lift others around me and make their day a little bit brighter. I know that is what the Savior would do if He were here. Another way I live my faith is by going to the Temple of the Lord. I know that the ordinances performed inside are eternal and SO important for each of God's children to receive. The blessings that come from being worthy to enter the temple as the most important blessings that the Lord has to offer us. I know He wants all of His children to go inside and receive those blessings. So really, I live a normal life, but I live it for God, not for myself. I do what He would want me to do instead of following my own selfish desires. This always brings me joy.
