Hi I'm Lisa Tovey

I'm a wife of a marathon running man, a mother of four, living on the East Coast for the last 13 years . . . and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of four fabulous kids, and a wife of a wonderful man. I mostly enjoy spending time with my family. We love to travel, exploring new places and enjoying time together. A highlight the past few years has been following my husband from race to race, supporting him in his running endeavors. It was the best time ever heading his crew at the Leadville Trail 100 Run in Colorado in 2012. Reading has always been one of my favorite pastimes, as well as learning new things. I also LOVE to sing, especially in choirs. I have a degree in Spanish, with a minor in Business because my dad thought that would be more practical. Little did I know how much that bit of business know-how would come in handy while running a household and performing other responsibilities I have had over the years. My life isn't extravagant or newsworthy, but I love it. Being married for almost 23 years now and raising my children has brought me the most joy I could ever imagine. And the future looks to be even brighter.

Why I am a Mormon

I started out as a Mormon because my parents were baptized when I was just two years old. I continue to be a Mormon because I firmly believe that God is my Heavenly Father, and He loves me. I know that Jesus Christ is His Son, and He atoned for the sins of the world. When I was a teenager and was posed some very thought-provoking, soul-searching questions about my beliefs by a good friend, I knew that I could not live my life with any doubts. I had to know for certain. I read the Book of Mormon from beginning to end, and then I prayed sincerely to know if it was true. During and after that prayer, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that Joseph Smith was indeed a true prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon was in fact another testament of our Savior Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because of this, my testimony, and because I have seen time and time again how God has protected and guided me and my family throughout the years. I find great joy in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving every day to be a better person. I try to serve people around me where I can, which has been one of the most rewarding things in my life. I especially enjoy serving at church, teaching the children. And now I have a new opportunity to be a missionary in our congregation, to share how I live my faith and to help others find ways to share that gift as well. It is exciting!
