Hi I'm Riley Miller

I'm 20, loving life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Riley Miller, and I absolutely love life. I am a musician, a skater, a martial artist, a thespian, a forensics kid, a full-time missionary, a brother, a friend, a son of my parents, and most of all, a son of my Father in Heaven. I am also a die hard food enthusiast. I love Food. I am a lot of things, and i'm grateful to live in a world that allows me to be a lot of things. Although i have many hobbies, i have put them aside to serve 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. I LOVE being a missionary! I've been called to serve from April 2012 to April 2014 in the Utah, St. George Mission, so I will spend these two years of my life teaching the people living in the southern half of Utah. The restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is the single best thing in my life, and i love sharing that message with other people. Helping people come closer to Christ makes you feel great, and i enjoy that privilege daily.

Why I am a Mormon

I thank God every day that i was privileged enough to be born into a home where the Gospel is taught and understood. Although I was born Mormon, I have, just like all people must, had to decide what i believe and how i would live my life. I was not always convinced of the teachings my parents brought me up with, and like many of us, had a rough teenage life. I was convinced that the idea of God was illogical and that my parents and friends from church were chasing a fantasy. That all changed in the matter of a couple of hours. After hearing a testimony (a brief talk regarding a person's individual beliefs) of a friend of mine on making good choices, i realized that i was not making good choices. I decided that it wouldn't be that hard to be a better person. So i went back to my room and thought about things i could change. As i thought more and more, my eyes were opened to how much of a mess my life was. I decided that i was willing to fix it, and i was overcome with a feeling that i had never before felt, a feeling that i knew could have come only from god. I asked him to help me if he was there, and he comforted me with a warm feeling of love and security. From thence forward i have been trying my hardest to live the standards of the gospel. The Lord helped me fix my life, and because of that, i owe my life to him. I know now that, not only is God really our Father in Heaven, but that he loves us enough to guide and direct us through prophets and apostles today, just has he has in times past. By abiding by the counsel of the prophets of today and in the scriptures, we can return to live with him. I know this more firmly than have ever known anything, and what an amazing feeling that is!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to obey the words of the prophets and apostles exactly. I have a firm belief that if you do this, you will be happy, even in times of trial. I especially have found daily scripture study and prayer to be of great importance in my life. I think the ability that each of us have to communicate with our Father in Heaven is a beautiful gift, and it has brought me much solace in times of grief or pain. I also currently live my faith by serving a full-time (2-year) mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and choosing to come out here on a mission is one of the best decisions i have ever made. I get the opportunity to meet lots of great people, and to share the Gospel of Christ with the people i meet. It's not always easy, but it is definitely more rewarding than anything else i've ever done.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Riley Miller
The Official Church answer: "The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ really lived, that He was and is God’s Son. It contains the writings of ancient prophets. One of these, Lehi, lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. God commanded Lehi to lead a small group of people to the American continent. God continued to call prophets among these people. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of their prophets and record keepers. It is named after Mormon, one of the last of these ancient prophets. These prophets knew about Heavenly Father’s plan for His children and the mission of Jesus Christ. They recorded that Christ appeared, after His Resurrection, to the people in America, taught them His gospel, and formed His Church among them. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. It concludes with a great promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true (Moroni 10:4)." To me, the Book of Mormon is much much more. The Book of Mormon is what helped me convert fully to live by the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This is the secret trick to a perfect knowledge of God the Father and his son Jesus Christ, and of his church on the earth today. If we read and pray, we can know its true, and if it is, Joseph Smith had to be a true prophet. If he was, then his church is True. If you know one, you can know the others are true as well.
