Hi I'm James Doyle

I'm a Mormon. I joined the Church when I was a teenager and it gave me a clear and positive path on the way I wanted to live life.

About Me

I am originally from New Zealand (Go the All Blacks) but I am currently living on the sunny Gold Coast of Australia, and we are really loving it! I am a husband and a father, my wife is Chinese and apart from my NZ heritage my blood also contains Scottish and Irish heritage, which makes our kids a real melting pot of cultures. I am the owner of a Thermal Imaging company in NZ & Australia and enjoy the highs (which are rare) and the lows (which are frequent) of business. I am also a musician and play bass guitar with a local band that is gaining good credibility on the music scene with our uplifting lyrics and high energetic vibe. I love life and I try my best to experience it and share it with everyone I am around.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that didn't practice any religion, and although I had some family overseas that were Mormon, I didnt really know much about it until my teenage years when some missionary sisters came to visit, and although I heard all the lessons I didn't get baptized by the end. But it did plant a seed which grew inside me. A year later my overseas cousins who were Mormons came to NZ to go to a Mormon school (Church Collage of NZ) and as we were also good friends they suggested that I should come to that school too (it was a great school) I wasn't sure what my parents would think about it, but I asked anyway, and they had no objections so I started the following year. As the seed of the gospel was already there going to a Mormon school really watered and nurtured that seed and a few months later I made the decision to be baptized. Becoming a member of the church has been a decision I have never regretted, it has given me a clear and positive path on how I should live my in a way that will make me happy. A lot of the people I talk to about the church say "there are too many rules and no freedom". But it really is the opposite most of those people are slaves to their own over indulgences and addictions (smoking, drinking even drugs). But living the gospel gives me the guidelines on how to find true happiness and freedom from life's anchors.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon is a lifestyle, we rely on our Heavenly Father everyday and give thanks to him for all our blessings. People are usually surprised when I tell them I am a Mormon I think because people still have false stereotypes and images in there minds of what we are. But we are all real people living real lives that are actively involved in our communities. I can tell you now, I am not perfect and I feel very far from perfect, I struggle with life just as much as you do. But my faith keeps me positive and gives me direction. I like to talk about the gospel and am not afraid to answer any questions, but I may not have all the answers, but I know where to find them.
