Hi I'm Tanner

I am a Chemical Engineering Student. I grew up in a family of 11 not including parents. I play the piano. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy painting and building model cars. I have played piano since I was 7. I am the gardener of my family. I love knowledge. I enjoy reading many types of books such as, the dictionary, science books, history books, Harry Potter books, Twilight books, and other science fiction and fanasty books. Anything you can teach me I will be willing to try to learn it. I especially enjoy things from the middle ages: swords, armor, history, and Television shows.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised LDS. My Mother and Father both joined the church with their families when they were in their teens. I continue to go to church because I have gained a testimony of the church through my own study and prayers. I know that Jesus Christ lives. I know the his Atonement can help me be made clean and I have felt that power thoughout my life. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God given to the people of ancient America by the prophets He called. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, and that he translated the Book of Mormon from the Golden Plates by the power and authority of God. I know this church is true and that it is lead today by a living prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. I bear witness of these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving a mission for the church in the Montana Billings mission. The mission covers most of Montana and about a third of Wyoming. Before I left for my mission I was serving as a sunday school teacher for the 4-5 year-old class.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Serving a mission is by volunteer. Missionaries pay their own way though the mission. It is a personal choice to serve and save the money required to serve. It is a great pleasure to know that the money spent during the 18-24 months of service was money I saved for service to the Lord. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

The first step to coming to know our Heavenly Father is prayer. In some ways, this is the hardest step for me. Having the faith to sit down and begin talking to a being that you haven't ever seen in your mortal life can be a challenge. However, once we've humbled ourselves to pray and seek Him out, He will touch our hearts and we will know He is there. This feeling is supplemented and supported by His witnesses the Apostles and Prophets. The scriptures also testify of Him and lays out His commandments. When we follow His commandments we are able to grow ever closer to Him while still in this life. So how do we come to know our Father in Heaven? Through prayer, study of the scriptures, keeping His commandments, and listening to his servant the Prophets. Show more Show less
