Hi I'm Ruth

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born on the farm and I like to work outside. I was born in 1914 which makes me 97 years old. My dad had a shop growing up and we could worked with him. If you wanted anything, you had to earn it or work for it. I learned to work hard and to love my work. I learned that when you do things with your own hands, you appreciate things more. I've learned how to do a lot of things. I've learned how to do whatever needed to be done. My husband graduated with a BS the day before we were married. He went on to school for 5 years after that. That was in a day before students were often given money for nothing. It wouldn't hurt people to learn how to learn to do or do without certain things in life. That is the motto I have lived my life by, and at my age, I've learned to do a lot.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it is true! The Holy Ghost testifies of the truth of the Gospel. I have seen the Holy Ghost testify to others, and to myself, of the truth of the Book of Mormon. If the Book of Mormon is true, then the prophet Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. Each time I read the Book of Mormon I feel that spirit guiding and directing me. It is just true!

How I live my faith

To the best that I know. Service is a key to my faith. The Savior went about serving, and that is how I try to live my life. At this point in my life, I try to share the experiences of my life in order to uplift and strengthen others. I have had a lot of powerful spiritual experiences with my family. Serving and loving my family is how I live my life.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Ruth
First off, I pay tithing because I know that it is a principle of faith. I once had a water heater go out that I was not going to be able replace because I didn't have enough money. I had paid my tithing knowing that as I demonstrated faith, the Lord would help me. A member of my congregation came to visit me, and ended up staying until 2am fixing my water heater. No one in their right mind would do that. I know it was a blessing of paying my tithing. When I pay my tithing, I do it as a gift to God, but I also know that the Church will use it for good and righteous purposes. It goes to the building up of the kingdom of God. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Ruth
Yes, the bible is the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. I am so grateful that after hundreds of years, the bible has remained as pure as it has. The people that sacrificed their lives for the bible are a great inspiration to me. I love the bible! Show more Show less
