Hi I'm Chris

I am happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of five children and survived much persecution as a result. I'm a native of Arizona but consider Colorado home after moving here 12 years ago on a business assignment. I'm married to my best friend and we raised four wonderful children together. We recently became "empty nesters" and are adjusting to our new life. I am a sales manager for a building materials manufacturer. I love traveling and enjoy learning about people and history. My hobbies include outdoor activities such as backpacking and camping. I also have learned to enjoy restoring a house with my sons.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I come from a long line of Mormons, I was not actively involved in the church during my youth. My mother passed away when I was 12 and for a time I found it difficult to believe there was a God. After all, how could He let that happen to my mom? I was struggling in school, having a tough time keeping friends, and overall felt very unhappy. Many people told me I would find relief in building a relationship with Heavenly Father. So one night when I was 14, I snuck out to the backyard to find an answer. I knelt in prayer to ask if there really was a God. There on my knees, I felt an overwhelming response of warmth that I believe was the Spirit confirming the reality of God and Jesus Christ. As I changed my lifestyle and behavior, I became more at peace with my life. I did better in school, made better friends, and accompished my goals. More importantly, I felt the blessings that come from obedience to the laws and commandments of Jesus Christ and was happy again.

How I live my faith

As I gained a testimony of Jesus Christ, I learned more of the great Plan of Happiness. I know I am here for a purpose and the Gospel gives me direction in my life. I have found that by serving others, being kind, having empathy, and striving to obey the commandments, that life is generally much happier and easier to endure. Although I falter at times...many times, in fact... I am so grateful for the atoning sacrifice of our Savior and Redeemer. I know Christ lives and loves us. He knows each of us personally and is concerned with our challenges.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

I have found that reading and studying the scriptures give us strength to endure life's many trials. The examples of the men and women, like Job, Joseph, and Esther, and how they faithfully followed God encourage me to do the same. More importantly, we are able to draw closer to our Savior as we read of His infinite sacrifice for the children of men. Show more Show less
