Hi I'm Nathan

I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My membership in the church is a very important part of who I am.

About Me

I love spending time with my wife and children. I love spending time outside exercising playing sports, camping, and just enjoying nature. I am a mechanical engineer and I design household appliances. I spent 2 years serving a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints in southern Japan.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. However, as I came of age I gained a knowledge for myself that Jesus Christ lives, and that Joseph Smith was called by God to restore the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I spent 2 years in Japan teaching the Japanese people about Jesus Christ. This experience deepened my faith in and knowledge of Jesus Christ by watching others' lives change as they too gained a knowledge that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that his gospel have been restored through Joseph Smith. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and I know that it was translated by Joseph Smith through the power of God. Studying and living by the things taught in the Book of Mormon and Bible have blessed my life so much, by helping me to know what my purpose in this life is what God's plan for all of us as His children is. Family is a very part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I believe that God has prepared a way for us to be together with our families after this life through Jesus Christ. I believe that God knows each one of us and wants us to be happy and eventually be able to live with him again. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that through his restored gospel we can realize our potential in this life and be with our families after death.

How I live my faith

Not only do I attend weekly church meetings on Sunday, I also serve as president of a Priesthood organization in the congregation that I attend. This gives me an opportunity to emulate the teachings of Jesus Christ by reaching out to others in my church and community to find ways of serving others. I organize what is referred to in our church as home teaching. Each priesthood holder in the congregation is invited to look after and invite other families in the congregation to strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ. This builds a great support network in the congregation that helps us strengthen one another.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Nathan
We, as mormons, believe that we cannot be saved without the grace of Jesus Christ. However, we also belief that is requires effort on our part in order to lay claim in the mercy of Jesus Christ. As it is stated in James 2:26, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also". As we repent and try to align our lives with the gospel of Jesus Christ we qualify ourselves to lay hold on the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
