Hi I'm Mike

I was raised Catholic. I like music, college football, woodworking and running. I'm a husband and father of seven. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Sacramento, California but my Dad was in the military and we moved frequently. I lived in California, Japan, Idaho, Nebraska, Germany and Texas before my Dad retired. I joined the Church when I was in college. I also met and married my sweetheart while in college. I love music, woodworking and running - although I wouldn't say I'm very good at any of those. I love my wife very much. We have seven children - all grown. I love the Lord very much and love to serve Him.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Catholic Church by wonderful parents who taught me, through their example, to love God, support the church, and to serve others. I was first exposed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by my friends in high school. At first, I rejected their invitations to come to their Church, but as I considered some of the teachings I realized that they made sense to me. Especially the teaching that there is a prophet on the earth today. We needed a prophet just as much as people who lived during Old Testament times. When I read the Book of Mormon I felt that it must be true. My parents weren't happy about my decision to join the Mormon Church, but I knew it was what I needed to do. I was baptized one month before I got married to my wife, whom I had met while investigating the Church. The two most important decisions I've ever made, I made while still a teenager - and I chose wisely. After nearly four decades, I know more than ever that made the right decision. Since then, I have tried to serve the Lord in whatever way He has asked to the best of my ability and He has blessed me greatly. I am still the only member of my family (parents and brothers and sisters) that is a member of the Church. I know the Lord loves my family, as He does all of His children, and He blesses them too. But there is a special peace and happiness that comes from having the fullness of the Gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

I have served in a large number of different capacities in the Church. Sometimes as a teacher, sometimes in administrative positions. I like teaching the best. I enjoy working with people and watching them grow in their understanding - even as I grow in mine. During my many years as a hometeacher, I have had the privilege to visit a lot of different people and get to know them. I especially enjoy helping others. It gives meaning to my life when I can use the blessings the Lord has given me to bless the lives
