Hi I'm Andrew

I live in England. I work as an optician and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a great love for my family. The highlights of the year are the many family events with extended family. My wife and I take seriously the challenge in finding the right balance of family fun, family learning and helping our four young girls develop their talents. I feel it very important to improve myself by education. I enjoy furthering my professional learning and seeing the benefit this can have for the patients I see. I also enjoy reading about other subjects and have discovered life to be so much more fulfilling as I broaden my horizon and understanding. Social time is an integral part of my life. Whether it is as an individual, as a couple or as a family, I love to spend time with friends. Ultimately, life is to be enjoyed and I have found that this is best done with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons I have as to why I continue to be a Mormon. The principles I have been taught enrich my life and enrich my relationships with my family and friends. I have had many experiences through out my life that have confirmed to me that there is a God. Experiences that have brought me to a knowledge of Jesus Christ and his gospel. Through these experiences I have come to know that as I place my trust in God, then I will find peace and happiness in my life, and I will find support through the many challenges of life.

How I live my faith

I am very impressed with an analogy given in the Book of Mormon, that faith in an individual's life is very much like planting a seed. When a seed is planted it needs care and nourishment in order for it to grow. I have found in my life that my faith is very much like this and an important ingredient of living by faith is the practice of prayer and reading the word of God. As I do this daily, I feel my faith grow stronger, and as I pass through life's experiences I find it easier to believe in God and see his hand in my life. In the film, 'Life of Pi', a young man survives a ship wreck. He gives two different accounts of his survival at sea. One account tells a story of God's hand in his survival. The second account portrays the harsh reality of what Pi had to pass through. The beginning and end of both accounts were the same- in both accounts the boat sinks and in both accounts Pi survives. In my life I can chose to live one of two stories. One with faith, or one without faith. In both stories the beginning and end will be the same- in both I am born and in both I will die, but what I learned from this film is that we all have a choice as to the story we wish our lives to reflect. As I pray and read God's word, I find that my story of faith is strengthened and in my daily life I see the hand and blessings of a loving Heavenly Father.
