Hi I'm Brian

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 48 years old. I am married and have 2 daughters. We also have another young man living with us for now. I graduated from Texas A&M, Class of '85. I live in Texas but I work in Algeria. I work a 28/28 rotational schedule which means I work 28 days in Algeria and then I am off 28 days. I am away from my family a lot, which is hard, but I have a greater opportunity to spend quality time with them during my days-off.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 7 years ago, after taking the Missionary discussions. When I started the discussions, I had no intention of joining the church, but after I finished the discussions, I prayed about it, and the Spirit convinced me without a doubt, that this is what I need to do. It was the best thing I have ever done. I know this is the true church of Jesus Christ and that he is always there to help me accomplish what I need to do.

How I live my faith

For the past several years I was an Assistant Scoutmaster working with the young men. It gave me a great opportunity to spend time with the youth and try to develop some important skills in them. The highlight of that opportunity was our trip to Philmont last summer. It was the greatest youth experience I had ever participated. It gave our youth a great opportunity to exercise their faith, build their self-confidence, learn to work as a team, and develop some leadership skills. That experience was topped this summer when 250 of us went on a Trek in Oklahoma. It was hot and dry and the work was hard but it was a great experience for the youth. It taught them a lot abbot themselves and helped them to develop their individual testimonies. It was a great experience.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is a loving, caring father, just like our father here on earth. He wants us all to be happy and wants each of us to have the opportunity to return back to live with Him for eternity. He loves us so much that He developed a plan that will allow us to do just that. We are his children and were created in His image. We are not perfect, like Him, but if we live our lives right we can be perfected and eventually be granted eternal life. Show more Show less
