Hi I'm Diane Burgoon

I'm a Mormon. I joined the church 23 years ago and it has changed my life dramatically. I have been so blessed.

About Me

I am the mother of two and have a 17-year old grandson. My husband and I recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. I work in the insurance industry. I love crafts, sewing, scrapbooking and geneolgy. I am the only member of the church in my immediate family.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church through the example of another. This person was like no one else I ever met. He was the most honest person I had ever known. When I learned about the church and that he was a member, I figured if he believed, it must be true. I gained my own testimony and have been blessed ever since. The principles of the gospel have helped me change my life and become a better person. I am still learning and changing and have come to realize it is a life-long process. The thing that first intrigued me about the church was about families being together forever. This appealed to me because I had two brothers who had died, one at birth and the other at six weeks old. The thought that I would get to see them and know them was very appealing. I then learned how that was possible and have worked to help my other deceased family members receive the ordinances that will allow them to accept the gospel and receive all the blessings that are available from our Heavenly Father. I hope to be a good example like the person that brought me the glad message of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my meetings, going to the temple and serving wherever I can. I know that I can do more, and am striving to do so. I want to go on a misson someday with my husband and do whatever is needed. I love to do geneolgy so that my ancestors can come unto Christ and so that we can be a family forever. I hope that I am being a good example to others. One way that I strive to be a good example is by refusing to watch R-rated movies. This comes up a lot and people now know that I won't watch them. Another way is by not drinking alcohol, coffee or tea. When people ask why, I tell them it is against my religion and hope that I can take the discussion further. I have done a pretty good job of keeping my covenants, but I can do much more. I know that if I study the scriptures and listen to the prophets, I can strengthen my resolve to do better.
