Hi I'm Brittany

I love my family. I love my friends. I love to play sports and be spontaneous. I LOVE to laugh. I am a mormon, and proud of it!

About Me

I recently returned from serving a mission for the LDS church in the Texas San Antonio area. It was there that I met some of the most amazing people that I have ever met. Some were mormons too, others weren't. Sometimes it was really hard to talk to people that didn't want anything to do with us, or thought that we, and our beliefs were crazy. Was it worth it? YES! Now that I am home, I enjoy being with my friends and family. I love to be outside. I played soccer and softball in high school and loved it. I love to swim. One of my dreams is to be scuba certified because I have always wanted to be able to breathe under water. I also love being inside and playing card games like nertz with family and friends. I won't pass up a good movie either, especially because I enjoy quoting them with friends and my older sister Heidi. I would also love to be able to go skydiving more often. I went once in high school, and it was one of the most exhilarating times of my life. I lived in Pleasant Grove, Utah until I was 18. After high school,. I moved with my best friend to Pennsylvania to be a nanny. It was there that I also met some of the most amazing people, and created cherished friendships that I know will last forever. I am especially grateful to the Karlson family, who is now my second family, and always will be.

Why I am a Mormon

I was a Mormon in the beginning because my parents were Mormon, and that's all I knew. My mom had been a member all of her life, and my dad was baptized in his 30's. Growing up, I never really questioned what I was being taught much, until one night when I was praying. I was about 14, and in the middle of my prayer, I doubted whether I was even speaking to anyone. All of a sudden I questioned everything I had ever been taught. What if it was all fake? What if I was believing it just because it was all I knew. Just as I felt like I was going to drown in my own tears, my sister came into my room. She asked me to remember the last time that I had felt the Spirit of God in my life, and would I be willing to doubt that that feeling was from God Himself. I knew that I couldn't deny the many times that I had felt the Holy Ghost. From then on, I was determined to continue to know for myself that the church was true. I am grateful for good friends and a wonderful family for supporting me in my decision to go on a mission, because it was mostly there that I gained a rock solid testimony that being a Mormon is the coolest thing ever! It was there that it all made sense to me. God is a loving God, and because of that, He doesn't want us all to live in darkness. Because of that, He gave us another prophet--just like Moses in the Bible, to lead us. He called Joseph Smith to be that prophet in the 1800's. Since then, we have always had a prophet, and always will until Jesus Christ himself comes again. I know it's true because I have prayed about it, and read the Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith translated from an ancient record. When I have done that, I have felt the spirit of God tell me that it's true. I am now one of thousands of college students living in the same town, trying to figure out the same things. Sometimes it is frustrating and easy to get lost in the crowd. But I know that God is aware of me as an individual, not just another face in a very large crowd

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following it's teachings. Is it always easy? No. Is it always worth it? Of course!! I try my best to read the scriptures every day. I try my best to be a friend and an example to everyone. I try my best to live worthy of the trust that God and others have in me. It makes it easy to live what I believe when I surround myself with others that are supportive. I help teach a class on Sundays that is preparing others to go on a mission like I did. This is one of my favorite parts of life right now. The students in the class are outstanding. They have no idea where they will go on their missions, or who they will meet or what challenges are ahead of them. But for right now, they are determined to be able to teach the principles of the gospel in a way that others will understand. We do this because we want others to have the blessings that we enjoy in our lives by knowing the things we know. Why do I live the way I do? Because I love God and Jesus Christ. I am a daughter of God, and I know He loves me. He cares about what I am doing and who I am becoming. He loves you too. Let him in if you haven't already. Please learn more about the Mormon faith. Learn from a credible source like mormon.org or the missionaries in your area. Those missionaries have left their homes and families for you. Give them a chance to lead you to more happiness than you can imagine.
