Hi I'm Eric Cashin

I am American of Irish, Scottish, English, Welch and Norwegian ancestry and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have a wife and four children. I work for the U.S. Army and am an emergency communications specialist. My favorite music is movie soundtracks / classical. I also like Celtic music as I have a strong Celtic heritage. I enjoy doing photography and genealogy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS faith. Despite this, I had many questions growing up. I believed that what I was being taught was true but did not receive a witness of the truthfulness of the gospel until I was in my early twenties. I was working late one night performing a security patrol. During one of my breaks I took some time to read and ponder the Book of Mormon. I was working for our family business and we were having some difficulties. At this time I said a silent prayer and asked God to help me know what to do to help improve our situation. When I was done I opened the Book of Mormon again and it fell open to Alma Chapter 7. I continued reading and came to verses 23 & 24 which read "And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle easy to be entreated full of patience and long-suffering being temperate in all things being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive. And see that ye have faith, hope and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works." When I read those verses, I felt an overwhelming feeling of peace. I felt that God was speaking directly to me. The Spirit was very strong and confirmed to me that the Book of Mormon was true and that Joseph Smith truly was a prophet, called of God to restore His gospel. From that time I have anchored my faith and testimony in that experience. I have since had many other spiritual experiences that have reinforced my testimony. The Church of Jesus Christ is God's church here on earth. Living the gospel has brought me and my family much joy and peace.

How I live my faith

As a family, we read scriptures and pray together. We have family home evening; one night each week dedicated to gospel learning and family activity together. It is my hope that my children will also find faith in Christ as I have. It will bless them throughout their entire lives.
