Hi I'm Al

I grew up in the United States and was baptized into the Church in Heidelberg, Germany. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am retired from the United States Army and from an agency of the state of Texas. During my working years I was a military aviator and a CPA. I have been married 45 years. My hobbies include reading, cooking and listening to music. We speak English and Spanish at home. I listen to classic country music, música ranchera, música norteña, big band music of the United States and classical European music. Favorite artists include Patsy Cline, Webb Pierce, Tammy Wynette, Glenn Miller, Rocío Dúrcal, Juan Gabriel, Los Tigres del Norte, and Vicente Fernandez. I am active in my local congregation and devote about 16 hours per week to Church service.

Why I am a Mormon

The teachings of the Church helped me understand where I came from, why I'm here, and where I'm going. The Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price helped me understand the Holy Bible, and apply its teachings to my life. I had searched 12 years for a church that could explain these things, and felt relief and hope when I discovered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The teachings of the Church have blessed my life, and given meaning to my days on earth -- and hope for the life beyond.

How I live my faith

I keep in mind the following scripture "There is a law irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated -- And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated." Doctrine and Covenants 13020-21. I seek blessings, and try to obey the laws upon which they are based.

What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

At death our spirits go to the spirit world. Those who chose to obey God in this life live in a state of happiness, peace, and rest from troubles and care. In the spirit world the gospel of Jesus Christ is preached to those who did not have the opportunities to hear it while on earth. We remain in the spirit world until we are resurrected and receive God's final judgment. Show more Show less
