Hi I'm Tom

I have been married for over 47 years. Have 3 great kids and 10 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated high school in 1969 and joined the Navy to avoid being a Marine in Viet Nam. I did spend 10 months in Viet Nam but it was on a ship. After 8 years I went to work as an Electrical Engineer at various comapnies and retired from an executive position. I love doing Family History and more particularly love helping other find their ancestors. I have been married for over 47 years, have 3 children and 10 grandchildren. I was raised in the Methodist Church and my wife and I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when we were 26 years old. Both of my sons served missions and all 3 of my children have been to the Temple. I served a mission at the Church Employment Center in Denver, Colorado helping many other find rewarding employment. I am currently serving as a Temple and Family History Consultant and as the Director of the Longmont Stake Family History Center. I have been greatly blessed by the Lord in my life and career.

Why I am a Mormon

After getting out of the Navy I wanted to improve my life. My wife and I started attending many different churches looking for one that felt right. I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints while on a business trip to Salt lake City. I was amazed at the simplicity of the doctrine and the ease at which it could be understood. I invited missionaries to come and teach us in California. After a couple months of teaching, praying and study, we both felt directed by the Lord to get baptized. It was the best decision we ever made. Over the last 30+ years I have had many personal spiritual experiences that have confirmed to my heart that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ on this earth. This is a testimony I got myself through prayer. No-one can understand this until they go through it themselves. I can tell you without any doubt that this church has saved my life.

How I live my faith

I try to live all of God's commandments. I honor the sabbath, pay a full tithe, I am honest in my dealings with my fellow man. I try to be charitable toward others. I pray often and read the scriptures reguarly. I thrill at the Gospel of Jesus Christ and look for opportunities to share it. All I ask is that I be judged by my fruit and if you wonder why I believe something, ask me, not someone else.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Tom
I think of Joseph Smith as a great prophet in the same way we think of Moses. Show more Show less
