Hi I'm Arica

I can be myself and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I've gone through a divorce and am a working mom. I love my family. My children are my greatest joy. I love to dance, draw, read, take photographs, scrapbook, gardening, horse back riding, canoeing, swimming, hiking, bowling, board games, and having fun with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

My father's family have been members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for generations. My mother was a convert to the church when she was 16 years old. My parents met while attending RICKS college. They were married for time and for all eternity in the temple. I grew up watching my parents make choices daily that brought them closer to God and that blessed our family. They taught me to be independent and think for myself. At one point I had to decide whether I truly believed it or not. Was it for me or was I just raised to believe? I spent a lot of time searching the holy scriptures, pondering on the things that they contained, and praying for the truth from the Holy Ghost. I did find my answers and my testimony, It served me well in my youth, and continues to bless my life in adulthood. Life hasn't ever been easy. It has challenged me to points where I thought I would break. I've been divorced, abused, and lost a child but it is because of my faith in God and our Savior's love for me, that I survived each trial one at a time. None of us are free from hardship and pain because that is just life but with God, we can make it through, learn from it, and find the strength to help others also. If I wasn't a Mormon I probably would've been a completely different person and I cannot guarantee that I would even be here today to talk about my experiences. I am so grateful to have found this gospel and even more grateful to have applied its teachings each day to the best of my ability. By doing this I heal, I learn, I teach and I live.

How I live my faith

There are many ways I live my faith. In my work I must be careful to choose good wholesome music and dance movements that reflect my love for God. In all my relationships and interaction with God's children I strive to follow Christ's example and teachings. At home I rely heavily on the guidance and strength that I pray for daily, especially as a single mom. The most important thing I'll ever do is to raise them in a way my Father in Heaven would be pleased with. I walk each day striving to be like Christ. We are not perfect and we cannot achieve perfection while in this life but by always learning, growing, and progressing towards perfection we find true and everlasting happiness. I am blessed every day in both small and great ways. None of us can escape challenges in our lives. Sorrow, sickness, hear ache, death, injury, loneliness, unemployment, or whatever else comes into our lives are many times severely hard to bare. but if we choose not to bare those burdens alone, by reaching out to our Lord for help, he will get us through those times and in time we will see that it all had a purpose and that it was for our benefit.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Whatever you put your time into, that is what your life will be about. If you want to grow closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ then you must first learn and know him. Then you can become like him. Reading the scriptures every day and forming that habit ensures that you are growing closer to him and by doing so you will receive knowledge, peace, and immeasurable blessings that are promised to those who do this. I have never failed to find peace and the answers I seek by searching for them in the scriptures. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Women in the church have the best of both worlds. On the one hand we are encouraged to be bright, intelligent, and to develop our various talents and skills. On the other hand we are supported and loved for fulfilling the divine calling of being a good wives to our husbands and wise and loving mothers to our children. We are helped and guided to find set the proper priorities and balance of the different roles we take on. We are not lessened but lifted up by being women. Show more Show less

What is the Law of Chastity?

The best parent sets boundaries for their children, to protect and show love for them. Our Father in Heaven has set a boundary for us that we should save our most intimate expressions of love for our spouse and for our spouse alone. By doing this we are blessed with love and respect for ourselves and for our companion. For any law broken, there are consequences, consequences both of spiritual and physical in nature. God hopes that we won't have to experience these things because we've made the wrong decisions. If that does happen, there is repentance and forgiveness. Show more Show less
