Hi I'm Preston Oberg

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest child of 11 and I love it. I served a mission for the church in the Arizona Tempe Mission. It was one of the greatest experiences that I had to serve the Lord and bring His children to the full knowledge of the redemptive power of Jesus Christ and His ifinate Atonement. It was a great blessing to grow up in such a large family. Like all families, mine is not perfect, but we are certainly trying to become like our Father in Heaven. Some of my siblings don't follow the teachings of the Gospel as they should, but keeping an example, miracles have and continue to happen. What a blessing it is! I have certainly had my struggles and my growing challenges, but I am a better person for it.

Why I am a Mormon

Having served a mission for the Lord, my testimony has been strengthened immensly. I would classify myself as an Elder who went out having a knowledge and a testimony of the Restored Gospel, but it was enhanced ten-fold by the things learned on my mission. I am a Mormon because I have read and pondered the message contained in The Book of Mormon, have prayed to know if it is true and the Lord, through His infinate mercy and love, has blessed me with a confirmation that it is. I am still a Mormon because I continue to read and pray daily to know if the message is still true, and the Lord continues to show me that it is. I am grateful for that witness and those I receive daily. By and through this witness, I know from reading and comparing the scriptures, (Bible and Book of Mormon), that they are companions, teaching the same doctrine. This illustrates to me that the Lord truly is the same, and teaches all His children the same things, and too requires the same ordinances needed for salvation, regardless of location, race, or culture; He is what He said, "not a respector of persons." The Lord uses humble settings, thus he would call the boy Joseph Smith to Restore His teachings in its fulness. I like to think optimistically, "why couldn't the Lord use a young boy," rather than pesimistically "why would He?" He is the prophet who opened this dispensation, only because, he was called by the Lord Himself. I know this to be true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be more like Christ each day. Of course it is hard, and it's supposed to be. Salvation wasn't easy for the Savior as He plead in the Garden and hung on the Cross, and thus it shouldn't be easy for us. He never said it would be easy, only that it would be worth it. He is able to lift our burdens, but requires faith on His name. This faith is aquired as we search the scriptures, kneel in prayer and ask the Lord for His help, and press forward, enduring faithfully on His name. We need to constant relief that comes from continual repentance each day. Each Sunday, the Lord has asked we keep His day Holy. This is possible through attending church and partaking of His holy sacraments. One thing that I have learned too that church is a place where we can receive revelation, for those we have stewardship over. The Lord is truly mindful of those that keep His commandments. Doing what is right brings so many blessings and relieves us of heartach that comes as we transgress the laws of God. This helps and provides great incentive to keep the commandments the Lord has set, let alone the love that we should have for Him and our Savior, Jesus Christ.
