Hi I'm Douglas Mills

I live in Idaho with my wife and seven kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah, but now I live in Idaho. My wife and I married twenty-two years ago in the Salt Lake temple. We have seven children and one of our children currently serves a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day-Saints in Arizona. Another son served a mission for the church in Paraguay. I had an oppurtunity to serve a mission for the church in Missouri when I was younger, which was a great experience for me. Just like it was great experience for my son who has served a mission. The son currently serving his mission writes home often, of the experiences that he is having daily, while teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in to a family that was very active in the church but as I grew older, I had to make some choices that would keep me active in the church or lead me down another path. Just like somebody that did not grow up in the church, I had to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. I also prayed about the need to restore the Church of Christ to the earth and it only made sense that Our Heavenly Father would not leave us alone in some of the most troubling times, that the world has experienced. Having a prophet, just like Moses or Noah to lead and teach and prepare for the second coming of the Savior, only gives me comfort and peace. After all, Jesus taught in John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace i give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid". Joseph Smith restored the the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth, he was the first prophet in modern times and the current prophet is Thomas S. Monson. Just like the people of the Bible and the Book of Mormon we are led by a man who has received the call, to be a prophet. That is a brief summary of why I am a member of ther Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day-Saints.

How I live my faith

Every month I have that oppurtunity to visit with three elderly sisters who have been widowed for many years. It is a monthly assignment to hometeach them but we usely visit more than once a month. We have other families that we visit but it has been a great experience for me and my family to visit these older sisters. Ever since I was youn I have been taught to pray morning and night. I try to read the scriptures every day, living in the world but not taking part in the things of the world is hard but it can be done.
