Hi I'm Elise

I'm a single girl, from Wisconsin, went to BYU-Idaho, and now studying Film Production in Utah, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the gospel, and baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Since I can remember, I have always leaned on my parents' testimonies. As I grew up, I learned the importance of family, love, living the commandments and self-reliance. As a child, I had a testimony, but not until I became an adult, was it tested! I started college at the age of 18, and went to BYU-Idaho. I had never lived on my own, and had only experienced school inside my home, being home-schooled most of my life. The school systems in Wisconsin are not the best, so my mother taught me and my siblings herself, in the comforts of our home. It wasn't until I was out on my own that I realized how tough the world can be on your beliefs. Being surrounded by thousands of young Mormons, studying at the same college as you, you would think life would be easy. Trust me, it isn't. Other than having a ward assigned to you and being strengthened by others of the LDS faith, you have day to day challenges like anyone else. Deciding how to wisely spend your time, who to date, who to be friends with, do homework or play, go to work or lie about being sick because you just too tired to go. There are also both good and bad influences all around, opposition is everywhere. In order to keep my testimony, I had to stay strong, do well in school, and not let myself stray. I was tested daily but my prayers, and attending church regularly helped me past each challenge.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I chose to be. I don't know where I would be without the gospel. I see blessings in my life every day, and that helps me get through it, even when it gets hard. I'm not better than anyone else, and my life isn't easier, but having the Lord's love, and help makes life bearable, and worth living. I have my faults, but I have seen no matter what I do, the Lord is always there to help me up when I have fallen. He is loving, and ever forgiving, and merciful. Just when I think I can't go any further on the path I'm taking, He gives me the strength to walk another step closer to my goal, and Him.

How I live my faith

I stay close to my family, who I love dearly, attend church every Sunday, read the scriptures and pray daily, and give service when needed. It is hard, and sometimes I do slip up, but when I do, I can feel the lack of the Spirit in my life, and it gets me back to where I want to be.
