Hi I'm Melissa

I am a wife, a mother of six, a dancer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of six children. I love to dance. I love to play games with my family. I enjoy sewing, baking, creating cards, and hair accessories. I am also going back to college to get a degree. I love baseball and especially watching my boys play. I also enjoy vegetable gardening. I am fanatical with a clean orderly house. I enjoy the beach and the arts as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know in my heart that The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints IS the restored gospel that was on the Earth when Christ walked here. It is HIS church and ran under his direction through a living prophet today even Thomas S Monson. When I was fourteen I read the Book of Mormon all the way through and in Moroni 10 :4-5 it gives a challenge to pray and know for yourself. I did that and received a firm confirmation in my heart and mind that what I had just read was true. That the Book of Mormon was another witness of Jesus Christ that he lives and that all that is taught in this book are principles and doctrines of Him to help us to better understand what He wants us to do, and how we can return to life with Him. There is a God. Our loving Heavenly Father who is a personage of order and has created a plan for all of us to return to live with Him again. This plan is the Plan of Salvation mentioned in 1Nephi. I know that God loves us and the joy he feels when we choose to follow Him. I know that this Church has the fullness and every piece of HIS doctrines and when I think about it logically it doesn't make sense that this isn't HIS church. I know Christ restored his gospel to the earth through Joseph Smith and put the organization into place through his living prophets. I know this all to be true without a shadow of a doubt and not any person on this earth can tell me or convince me otherwise. I will serve and follow my Savior Jesus Christ until my dying day when I hope that I have lived valiantly enough to walk in His presence with Him. This is why I'm a Mormon and why each day I live I strive to keep the commandments and walk in righteousness and when I fall short I know that I can apply the atonement of Jesus Christ through repentance and He will lift me up. I know with all the conviction of my heart that everything I have said is true and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith in my home first. We hold family prayer and Scripture every night so that our children will become familiar with the teachings of Jesus and so that they will be able to discover for themselves the truth. Each Monday night we hold a Family night where we each take turns teaching a gospel lesson to each other. This lasts about 40 mins. The children are included in the rotation. We live our Faith each day as we counsel together. I also serve voluntarily as the president of the Young Women's organization in our ward. This entails organizing weekly activities during the week for the young girls 12-18, teach them on Sunday a lesson on different gospel principles and struggles they may encounter over these 6 years. We emphasize the For Strength of Youth pamphlet which outlines standards that we are all expected to uphold as members of the Church. As the president, I have 6 other women that serve under me that help to carry out the lessons and activities as well. So part of my job is "managing" the whole organization and making sure it runs smoothly. We also support or carry out a week long Christian Latter Day Saint Girls Camp each summer. I also serve as a visiting Teacher where I am assigned 3 women in our church to visit each month and share a Gospel lesson. This is really where friendships develop as well as giving me the opportunity to serve others. I have the opportunity to take meals in when people are ill, help with babysitting when a young mother needs help, and build relationships and friendships. I also serve on the PTO board at my childrens' school where I am able to input ideas and standards which I believe and make a change in our community. I also like to get very involved in each of my childrens' activities and get to know more community members. Through making new friends I am allowed to live by example my standards and all my friends know who I am and what standards I uphold.
