Hi I'm Liz Ellingson

I love the Beatles. I'm going into Special Education. I love my family more than anything. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey I'm Liz. I'm on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints right now, and I love it here in Oklahoma! I can't think of anything more rewarding than helping people find the church. I was born in Portland, Oregon, but grew up in the Salt Lake City area. Before I came out to Oklahoma, I completed three years of College in Elementary and Special Education. It is definitely a passion of mine. For about 8 months before I came out, I worked with a little girl that had Aspergers Syndrome, and I loved it. I got to learn about Applied Behavior Analysis therapy from an expert who designs home programs for kids on the Autism Spectrum. I decided that I want to do that for the rest of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it brings me peace and joy. I have a very strong, personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I find great spiritual satisfaction in reading scripture, attending church, and going to the temple. I love the Book of Mormon and the Bible. These books together speak powerful testimony of Jesus Christ and His redeeming love and Atonement. I am so grateful to know what the Savior did for me in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross. I know that He suffered all my pains and sorrows, and has helped me find peace and satisfaction in my life. I know that no matter what mistakes I make He will forgive me, as long as I do my small part. We can all be made clean again and live with our Heavenly Father one day if we so choose. The spirit guides me in all the decisions that I make. He testifies of truth and I can't imagine my life without that guiding power and strength that it gives me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a missionary. Every day, I strive to bear testimony of and bring people closer to Jesus Christ. Everybody has problems, everybody makes mistakes, and everybody feels pain. Jesus Christ felt that, and my joy will indeed be great if I can help even one person come closer to Him. This doesn't mean life will be easy, mine has certainly had it's ups and downs, but it does mean that we can get through anything, and I mean ANYTHING with a sense of peace and happiness. I know this because I've used it. Coming to Heavenly Father in prayer and talking with Him has helped me through so much, and I know that He understands all of it. I know He loves me. I know He loves all His children. Being a missionary is hard work, but it is all worth it because of those people who will listen and accept Him into their lives. People can be changed in a very real way. I hope to help many understand that that change can happen in them.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Liz Ellingson
The purpose in this life is basically to show the Lord and ourselves that we can learn and grow through the hard experiences. We need a physical body so that we can be tested and refined, and become more like Heavenly Father. If we try our best to become like Him in this life, we will be able to live with Him in the next life, as well as gain happiness and peace here. Life is a refining process. We all go through hard experiences. We cannot always choose our circumstances, but we can choose what we do as a result of our circumstances. If we do our best to make good decisions, and utilize the atonement in this life, we can make it back to Him. Show more Show less
