Hi I'm Ben

I am a husband, father and business owner in Toowoomba, Australia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 16 years now to my high school sweetheart, Tammy. We have two great children - Holly who is 6 and Oscar who is 18 months old. I love my family and am so happy that we share the same faith. My wife and are partners in an Office Equipment business in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. I love what I do. The days, weeks and months just fly by. I love watching (on TV or at the ground) my beloved Bombers play in the AFL. I enjoy a hit of golf occasionally and I have great pleasure in collecting fresh eggs from our chickens every morning! If I get a kiss from my children and get to hear them laugh, I am a happy man! Life is pretty simple really.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child I did not attend any church, but I knew there was a god. I had a few experiences with different churches but nothing steady as mum and dad were not regular church goers. When I did go to church, I felt as though it was good but something was missing. My mum and dad split up when I was seven. I used to ask God what would happen if my mother passed away. I used to ask him to look after my mum and me. These were very sincere prayers from a little boy. This worried me a lot as I was young and I lived alone with mum. When I was 11, two Mormon missionaries came to our door and mum and I let them in. They taught us about the gospel of Jesus Christ. What they taught resonated within my heart - they were teaching of things I felt I had heard before and it made complete sense to me. I had found the answers I was seeking about life and what happens when we die. The doctrine of eternal families is magnificent! Over the next few months mum and I were taught about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we made friends with the local members here in Toowoomba. I joined the church through baptism on the same day as my mother and we have been together in the faith ever since. It is a decision that has blessed our lives for ever.

How I live my faith

At the moment I am heavily involved in the administration of the church in my local area. I have a leadership role and I get to meet lots of new and interesting people. Meeting with them is a blessing in my life. Their faith strengthens me. I spend two to three nights per week helping and working with friends of the same faith. I also get to work with youth from all over the region and this has been a great blessing to me. They really are a wonderful group and they teach me heaps and make me laugh, cry and feel the holy spirit. It is a privilege to serve the Lord in this assignment and I love doing what I do.
