Hi I'm Bryan Smith

I'm a Mormon Missionary serving in Long Beach, CA.

About Me

Hi, I'm Bryan. I'm from a small town called Forsyth in the great state of Illinois. Currently I'm serving as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Long Beach, CA. I find, teach, and help the wonderful Latino people of SoCal come closer to our Savior Jesus Christ through His Restored Gospel. Before I chose to serve as a missionary I spent my time doing a mix of family, school, church, and play. I grew up with my orthopedic surgeon dad and a great at-home mom. Growing up I was the 2nd oldest of 4 kids. I have two brothers and a sister. We enjoyed eating dinner together, seeing movies, going to soccer games, and teasing eachother. In my final year of high school 2009. My parents went through a divorce. Since then, my dad has remarried into a large family. This added a step mom and 5 step-sisters to the group. Both my parents chose to move back to their original homestate in Utah. At my public high school in Illinois, I was one of only 400 students. I enjoyed my education and found special interest in science. After graduating as #2 in my class, I studied generals at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I grew up and was baptized into the LDS church at the age of 8. My dad's entire family are also members but only my mother is a member from her family. I loved weekly church and church youth activities as a teen. I participated in planning and organizing our activities. Sports, dances, camping, personal development, etc.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because I have gained a witness of the truthfulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ though sincere prayer and obedience to God's commandments. As a teen I was fine with doing what my parents and the church said i should do. Come to church, pray, read the gospel, be nice, and avoid sin. After leaving home I no longer had that same support. I was unsure about my beliefs and desires. I chose to read the Book of Mormon and pray sincerly to know if it was from God; if really there was infact a God. After weeks of this, I gained an answer to my prayers. While praying by myself one evening in my small college dorm, I felt an overwhelming assurance that the Restored Gospel was true, that the promises in the Book of Mormon and Bible were true, and that my Savior was truly there to lift and guide me. I was filled with so much peace and love that it's uncomparable with anything else I'd experienced. I felt the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter, the Holy Ghost. Since that day I've lived with new energy and spirit. I know that God lives. I know His Son Jesus Christ can relieve us of pain both spiritual and physical. Joy, Peace, and Love are the prize. Following Christ's example is the price.

How I live my faith

As a messenger of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, I help people experiene and feel the Spirit of Christ. I help them understand the fulness of His Gospel. A fulness that was restored by Christ through a boy named Jospeh Smith. I have been chosen and called to share this message by a living Apostle of Jesus Christ. The value of this work is beyond compare. In Matthew chapter 20 Christ taught, "...whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant; Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." I love growing closer to my Savior everyday and helping my brothers and sisters in Long Beach, California do the same. In Christ's name. Amen.
