Hi I'm Martin

I am a native of Southern California. I'm a husband, a father, and a grandfather. I am very happy and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I consider myself an "ordinary Joe". I am married to my childhood sweetheart and we have four wonderful children; three girls and a boy. The grandchildren have started to come and that is a thrill. I am an accountant by trade. I worked for a large Professional Accounting firm for a number of years rising to the level of partner. I have since moved on to the private sector and have been blessed with a good job that I enjoy very much. I enjoy several hobbies that I never seem to have time for. Recently I have enjoyed family history research.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a strong testimony of God the Father and His plan of happiness, of His son Jesus the Christ as our Savior, of the Book of Mormon being the word of the Lord, of Joseph Smith and his divine mission in restoring the gospel in these latter days and of living prophets who guide and direct the Lord’s kingdom today. I know these things to be true. I have prayed and fasted to know of their truthfulness. I have strived to obey the all the commandments of the Lord to be worthy to receive divine confirmation of truth through the spirit. My greatest joy is being with my family. I love my wife and my children beyond words can express. I have been blessed in the knowledge that my family is sealed together for all eternity - our association continuing beyond the grave should we remain faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord. This knowledge comes to me by my faith and testimony. I know that Jesus is the Christ and that His gospel in all its fullness and priesthood authority has been restored to the earth. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet who was an instrument in the hands of the Lord in restoring His gospel once again on the earth. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom upon the earth today and is guided by true and living prophets and apostles. I know the Bible and Book of Mormon to be the word of God. I know the Book of Mormon to be exactly what it purports to be – the sacred writings of ancient American prophets translated by the gift and power of God to stand as a second witness and companion to the Bible to proclaim that Jesus is the Christ. I personally know these things to be true without any doubt through in-depth investigation and fervent prayer. I am happy. My family is happy. We know who we are and what we are all about. It is a happiness that is eternal in nature and not of a passing moment. This provides us with peace and comfort amid all of life's trials and tribulations.

How I live my faith

One of the many things I love about the Church is that it keeps me focused on what matters most in life. I have always felt that to be a good Chrsitian one must be actively engaged in many good causes - to be in the game (or at least suited up) ready to be played at whatever position the Lord calls you to do. I have been asked to perform many different things for the church such as work with young children to young adults to teaching adults in Sunday School. I love visiting the sick and needy and caring for them. I love the various service projects designed to uplift my community and bless the lives of people I don't even know. I am not perfect but I try to do the best I can with the talents the Lord has given me.
