Hi I'm Jared

I love life! i love the outdoors, reading, my family, sleeping, and a lot of other stuff..and I'm a...I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am the last of ten children in my family, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I was raised in the middle of nowhere, so it was always nice having siblings around so I had someone to hang out with. speaking of "the middle of nowhere" that is where i developed an appreciation for being outdoors. I love to camp and bike and hike and whatnot, it helps me get away from the stresses of life. I'm also quite fond of T.V. and reading. I like "Arrested Development", "Malcolm in the Middle", and "Saturday Night Live". I'm not a big fan of reality T.V...at all. In terms of reading I enjoy classic literature, and picture books! I returned from serving a mission in Anaheim, California in the Summer of 2011. While there, I knocked on doors, peddled bicycles, learned a new language, and spoke with thousands of strangers, in an earnest attempt to share the teachings of Jesus Christ and proclaim His gospel. A year after I returned home, I married the girl of my dreams! We live in a tiny basement apartment, but love it none the less. I am currently a college student pursuing a degree in genetics and biotechnology with a minor in business management. I hope to do...something...with it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because i know that this is the church and gospel of Jesus Christ upon the earth. I don't mean that in an arrogant or pompous way, but i simply know that it is true. I have read the Book of Mormon and have prayed to know if its true. The spirit has born, and continues to bear witness of the truth of the book to this day. If the book is true and comes from God, then the person who translated it (Joseph Smith) had to be called of God. If these two things are true and of God, then the things they claim are true as well, things such as the restoration of the gospel and Christ's ministry to the people on the American continent. If these things are true, then this is the kingdom of God here upon the Earth, the church of Jesus Christ. If the Book of Mormon is true, then so is the rest that comes with it. It is a chain reaction. Hence...I am a Mormon because i have read, thought, and prayed about the Book of Mormon and i know that it is true, as well as everything that comes with it. In addition to this, I am a Mormon because it makes life richer. There is so much in the world that is sleazy and low. The gospel gives me a foundation on which I can base my life. It is a compass which leads to lasting happiness. Living the gospel isn't always easy, but things of worth usually come at a price. I know that by living as Christ taught, we can rise above the temptations that beset us, we can cope with everyday challenges, and find peace in times of despair.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the teachings of Jesus Christ in my day to day life. I'm not perfect at it, but i strive constantly to be more like him every day. I try to do things that would be pleasing to my Heavenly Father. I try to serve others, and love my neighbors. I do my best to keep the commandments that God has given. I suppose it is just a culmination of small everyday acts that accrue to define who I am and how I live.
