Hi I'm Greg

I love Chinese. I'm trying to learn how to be a son. I have a really cute dog. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm pretty tall, sometimes it makes me happy and sometimes it doesn't. I love music, art, movies, art movies, cartoons, thought provoking videogames, sports, and being a people person. I love languages a lot, and am currently learning Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church like many. But looking back I realize I never had a strong enough testimony to say I was a disciple of Christ. Growing up I knew my parents loved me and that I had a Father in Heaven. I knew Jesus Christ was important to us, and that we should love him. I knew that when I was learning about Christ, being around things that made me want to be a better person, I felt better than when I wasn't. But I never opened myself up to understand more than that, just because all the distracting meaningless things of life took up all my time. (mainly videogames) When I finally had a chance to be away from it all, when I was serving a mission, the Spirit finally had a chance to speak to me like it never did before. Through experience, prayer, and study of the scripture, I came to truly understand what Christ did for us, how much our Father loves us, and what the Atonement can do in an individuals life. I am Mormon simply because nothing in this life can help me be a better disciple of Christ. To follow what I want, and not fulfill what God knows my potential to be, is just selfish, in a very self-destructive way. To abandon it would be like choosing gutter water over the purest spring because it is so much easier to get to.

How I live my faith

We have to make sure we're close to God before we can help others come. -I do that by praying often. I used to think of prayer as almost a spell to make my food healthy or make sure I had a good sleep. And of course God with what we need when we ask for them. In addition to that, and just as importantly, in prayer we can consult with our Father what he feels about our decisions, we can recieve comfort from him, and we can recieve guidance on things we need to do. -Another is reading my scriptures consistently, the Bible and the Book of Mormon, because that is where there is a record of what God has helped his children in the past accomplish. It is a great pattern for our own lives as well. Some of the prophets, especially in the book of mormon, talk to US, the readers, and tell us how they have seen the influence of Christ in people's lives, and help explain more about the gospel. -Just as important is to listen to modern prophets. They are men who have the same position that Moses did in the Old testament. That means they recieve instructions for the whole world on what they should do as disciples of Christ. Right now some of their most important messages are keeping our families strong through living the Gospel, and making sure our homes are prepared in case of emergencies or disasters. -Go to church every week. At church we learn about the gospel, and we can remember Jesus Christ in a very special way. It is called the sacrament, where bread and water is passed around to remember Jesus Christ's sacrifice for us. Those who are members of the church make a promise when they are baptized that they will follow Christ, and Christ promises to clean them of their sins. When members keep their side of the promise (or covenant), then when they take the sacrament, they can be claned each week. -Having a people centered life. Christ wants us to serve others, and we can't really do that unless we make them a priority in our lives.
