Hi I'm Phyllis

I was born in Ontario. I have 3 children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. I love Family History and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am originally from Ontario and grew up on a farm. Our small family moved to British Columbia in 1965 for my husbands job. I love to do family history and have been doing it since 1987. It is so neat to find ancestors and read about their stories. I love to go to the temple and serve others. I like to do gardening because I can always feel at peace. My favorite place to go for walks is in the woods. When things got difficult at home, I would take the dogs and go for a long walk and calm down. I also love to look for rainbows.

Why I am a Mormon

I was praying and asked the Lord if there was something I should be doing before I had to leave this earth. I simply asked, "let me know." Well, the missionaries found me. They knocked on my door and the third time I let them in. I have no idea why I let the missionaries in but I just did. I always had questions about religious things but nobody had the answers. I had wondered why there was not any more prophets and apostles on the earth and I had always questioned people baptizing infants. The missionaries were able to answer all of my questions and after two years I decided to get baptized. Although there were a lot of different trials, I still prepared myself to get baptized on April 17, 1982. As I was going to my baptism, I saw a huge rainbow going across the road. I knew then that that was my sign. I was so nervous to get baptized, but at that moment I heard a voice saying "it is going to be ok, it is going to be ok." I have never looked back. Luckily for me, I am still able to stay in contact with those who originally found me. I have also come to love temples. When I go to the temple now, I always feel so close to heaven and home.

How I live my faith

My favorite opportunities to serve in the church have been temple work and family history work. I usually spend most of my extra time doing things for others. I love to visit the other ladies in our congregation and know how to help them. I usually give people a ride to church and have been doing it for a long time. The biggest change that has happened in my life has been my family. Families have become my number one priority because families can be together forever.
